Site Supervisor
Location - Inverness
Role/ Job Purpose
The Site Supervisor is in charge of a group of workers. Typically, the Site Supervisor will have experience, a specialist knowledge of a trade, and has moved into the position to be the main contact between the Contracts Manager and other employees and clients. The Site Supervisor will require to efficiently deliver a customer-focused service by ensuring that operations are compliant with company policies, standards of service, legislation, and client specifications.
Ensure the welfare and safety of all employees, sub-contractors, and others who are directly affected by operations under the Site Supervisor's control. To ensure that all contract work is carried out in full compliance with health, safety, welfare, and environmental regulations.
Key Tasks
Health & Safety
1. Responsibility of, and compliance with, the company's H&S management systems; including the policy statement, organisation, arrangements, and individual responsibilities.
2. Full understanding and knowledge of the significant workplace hazards and the generic risk assessments and risk control measures relevant to the areas of responsibility.
3. Taking full ownership of H&S matters in the area of responsibility.
4. Full understanding and knowledge of the Company's H&S targets and objectives and ensuring that work is carried out in harmony with, and in pursuance of, these.
5. Full understanding and knowledge of H&S legislation and best practice as it relates to company and individual responsibilities and duties.
6. Ensuring the accurate reporting of any work-related accidents, dangerous occurrences, ill health, or near miss incidents to the relevant Manager.
7. Reporting any known or suspected defects or failings in the OH&S Management System to the relevant Manager without delay.
Environmental
1. Full understanding and knowledge, and compliance with, the company's environmental policies, main aspects, impacts, and work procedures.
2. Full understanding and knowledge of the company's Emergency Plan, Pollution Incident Response Plans, and general pollution prevention and control requirements.
3. Environmental Legislation and best practice as it relates to company and individual responsibilities and duties.
4. The Company's environmental targets and objectives and ensuring that work is carried out in harmony with, and in pursuance of, these.
5. Adoption of recycling and energy-saving initiatives within your own working environment.
6. Adopting an environmentally responsible attitude to company business and ensuring the accurate reporting of any environmental incidents or near miss incidents.
Quality
1. Full understanding and knowledge, and compliance with, the company's quality management system; including quality policies, main aspects, impacts, and procedures.
2. Ensuring that you and any member of your team take ownership of quality matters.
3. Full understanding and knowledge of the company's quality objectives and targets and ensuring that work is carried out in harmony with and in pursuance of them.
4. Ensuring that all work is undertaken in a quality manner. This means doing a task right the first time, thus creating a culture of efficiency and effectiveness.
5. Reporting any known or suspected failing or defects in the quality management system to the relevant Manager, without delay.
Key Responsibilities
1. Report to your Contracts Manager any issues and deficiencies with your section of the works design or operations.
2. Ensure on-site risk assessments are carried out appropriately to determine the appropriate type and level of provision of signing, guarding, shoring, PPE, etc.
3. Make arrangements to ensure the outcome of the risk assessment is implemented prior to works commencing, taking into consideration external factors e.g. road traffic, ground conditions, weather conditions, etc.
4. Ensure equipment is correctly used and maintained in good order.
5. Ensure at all times that the safety of pedestrians is paramount and that the needs of the disabled are considered.
6. Ensure Safe Working in the Vicinity of buried Utilities.
7. Ensuring that all equipment is fit for use.
8. Ensure works are carried out in a safe and proper manner by implementing all controls as defined within the Site Specific Risk Assessment and to the standards required by the specification.
9. Carry out your work in a safe and proper manner. Ensure adherence with the company Skills and Competence Policy and Procedures.
10. Keep records of your work as required by the company.
