The primary job is to exceed our clients' expectations for outstanding service while creating a warm and caring environment. Patient Assistants (receptionists) are responsible for creating a good first and last impression on our patients and other service users.
The post holder is required to welcome and direct patients and other visitors on arrival. Handle general enquiries from patients/carers & other outside agencies efficiently and courteously and explain surgery procedures. Divert calls and take messages as required. Receive requests for repeat prescriptions. Basic IT skills are required for this position as the patient assistant will deal with email correspondence from patients and other agencies.
This position is for Monday - Friday 8:30 am - 14:30 pm for a 12-month contract - We are looking for these set hours and cannot be flexible with this; if these hours suit you, then please apply.

Main duties of the job
1. Receive and direct patients and visitors on arrival.
2. Handle general enquiries from patients efficiently and courteously.
3. Answer general enquiries, explain surgery procedures, divert calls, and take messages as required.
4. Receive requests for repeat prescriptions and generate them from the computer.
5. Effectively manage the reception area to ensure the smooth and efficient running of the integrated reception service.
6. Check practice emails and AccuRx.
7. Make new and follow-up appointments for doctors and nurses, including oral and telephone requests.
8. Answer and address telephone queries, in accordance with best guidance on telephone triage.
9. Support other administrative responsibilities associated with the role.
10. Be a key contact for all our clinician team.
11. Communicate internally and externally providing a high level of service.
12. Good written skills to respond to member enquiries.
