Would you like to play a key role in fulfilling the Council’s statutory duties in providing high-quality education and childcare services to all children who live in Leicester?
Joining the Early Education Development team in ensuring there is sufficient early years and childcare provision across the city. The work involves supporting the senior sufficiency officer in responding to the government’s childcare reforms and engaging with childcare providers and key stakeholders across the sector to do this.
There is a blend of working out in the community as well as a hybrid model of being home and office based. Hours can be worked flexibly but will require you to be responsive to the demands of the service, occasionally working outside normal office hours for events or training.
You will be required to attend regular team meetings, one to one supervision times, as well as project or caseload related meetings, alongside occasional visits to early years and wrap around providers. Meetings will be mix of face to face and online. You’ll be provided with a laptop to support remote and agile working.
What You’ll be doing
As an Early Education Development Officer, you’ll be giving advice, guidance, and support to prospective and existing providers on fulfilling registration and funding requirements and supporting them to develop business models that respond to the market and builds sustainable provision. Using your financial and business expertise, as well as an understanding of childcare, you will be helping to develop guidance for the sector, collecting data around supply and demand for places and analysing this to inform reports and market position statements.

What you’ll need
With extensive experience of working in business and finance within the context of the early years and childcare sector, supporting, and developing provision. Using excellent communication skills, you’ll develop and maintain relationships with external stakeholders. Working collaboratively with other services and partners to ensure service needs are met. Using your finance, IT and data analysis skills in this role will be essential along with strong writing skills. Which, you’ll use to record communications, produce and maintain up to date records, write reports and presentations and develop and implementing appropriate systems.
