We are currently recruiting for a Behaviour Support Assistant to work with pupils aged 11-16 in a secondary school in Cwmbran. Role Overview:
As a Behaviour Support Assistant, you will be responsible for providing 1:1 and small group support to students with additional learning needs. Your role will involve helping these students overcome barriers to learning, managing challenging behaviours, and fostering positive relationships to support their emotional and social development.
You will be working alongside a dedicated team of educators, and your role will include using sports-based interventions to help students improve their behaviour and build essential life skills. Experience in sports coaching or relevant qualifications are highly desirable.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Provide 1:1 and small group support to students aged 11-16.
2. Manage and support students with challenging behaviours and emotional needs.
3. Use sports-based interventions to engage and motivate students.
4. Build strong, positive relationships with students to improve behaviour and learning outcomes.
5. Work collaboratively with teaching staff to create a positive and inclusive learning environment.
Candidate Qualities:
1. Reliable and flexible – available on short notice for various roles.
2. Confident, approachable, and outgoing – able to build rapport with students.
3. Previous experience in a similar role (e.g., behaviour support, SEN support, or youth work).
4. Passion for working with students who need extra time and attention to progress academically and socially.
5. Strong behaviour management skills – able to handle challenging situations calmly and effectively.
6. Sporting background – experience in coaching or qualifications in sports is highly beneficial.
Requirements:
1. Enhanced DBS clearance (registered on the Update Service or willingness to apply).
2. EWC registration (or willingness to apply).
3. Ability to provide two recent references.
4. Right to work in the UK – must comply with UK employment regulations.
