Location: Cambridge, UK
Salary: £30,000 – £35,000 p.a. full-time equivalent, dependent on experience
Basis: Permanent; full-time, part-time, or flexible. You must be able to work evenings and weekends when required
Eligibility: You must be eligible to work in the UK
The role
The Raspberry Pi Foundation is looking to appoint a dynamic individual as Community Engagement Coordinator, based at our HQ in Cambridge, UK.
Reporting to our Director for the UK and Ireland, you will work closely with colleagues across the organisation, as well as a diverse group of external partners, to identify, develop, and implement activities that bring our mission to life. You will need to be confident working with people and organisations from a range of sectors and able to think creatively about cross-sectoral collaborations. Your work will directly increase our impact and visibility in the Cambridge area, and you will support colleagues to increase our reach and impact elsewhere in the UK and Ireland.
A significant part of your role will involve organising and delivering events in the Cambridge area, including coding and digital making activities for young people. You will need to be confident leading workshops and training, and if you haven't led these types of activities before, we will provide training and support to upskill you.
The ideal candidate will have a passion for computing and digital making, and a background in community engagement or education.
You will need to live within a commutable distance of our Cambridge HQ on Hills Road and you would ideally have a good working knowledge of the city and surrounding area. This role will involve regular evening and weekend work, for which you would be provided time off in lieu.
We strive to make the Foundation a place where talented people who care about our mission can do the best work of their careers. We have a flexible and collaborative approach to all aspects of our work. If you’re the right person for the job, we’ll make it work for you, and you can be confident that you’ll be working with an exceptional team.
Responsibilities
* Develop and nurture partnerships with schools, colleges, community organisations, business groups, and cultural organisations in Cambridge and the surrounding area.
* Work with colleagues and partners to develop and implement activities in Cambridge that bring our mission to life, including hands-on coding and digital making activities for young people.
* Develop and support a programme of community activities at the Foundation's Cambridge HQ, including visits from schools and youth organisations, community meetups, and more.
* Promote the Foundation's educational mission and programmes in Cambridge and the surrounding area, with a particular focus on engaging young people who experience educational disadvantage or who come from backgrounds that are traditionally underrepresented in technology.
* Gather feedback and data on our community engagement activities in the Cambridge area, including feedback from participants, and use that information to increase our reach and impact.
* Support the planning and delivery of activities across the UK and Ireland including outreach, training and events, collaborating with colleagues across the organisation as required.
Experience and personal attributes
We recognise that everyone has the potential for growth, and we welcome applications from candidates who can demonstrate that they have some, but not all, of the experience and personal attributes listed here.
* A commitment to the mission and values of the Raspberry Pi Foundation.
* A passion for computing and digital making, ideally with experience of makerspaces and the willingness to develop your skills.
* Experience of running workshops or training, particularly with young people.
* Experience of working in partnership with a range of communities and organisations.
* Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, able to represent the Foundation externally.
* Ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues and partners.
* Good organisational and project management skills.
* Comfortable with technology, including office and productivity applications (we use Google Workspace).
* Able to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.
About us
Established in 2008 and first known for our product — the wildly successful Raspberry Pi computer — the Foundation has developed education programmes, learning experiences, and products that are helping millions of young people learn vital new knowledge and skills.
Through Code Club, we support the world’s largest network of free informal computing clubs for young people. Tens of thousands of educators have taken our online courses, and millions of people use our free online learning resources. To deepen our understanding of how young people learn about computing and how to create with digital technologies, we conduct academic research, and we use that knowledge to increase the impact of our work and advance the field of computing education.
Across all of our work, we work hard to engage young people who come from backgrounds that are traditionally underrepresented in the field of computing or who experience educational disadvantage. We work all over the world, with teams based in the UK, Ireland, North America, and India, and partnerships with mission-aligned organisations in over 40 countries. You can learn more about us on our careers page .
We are at the forefront of the global movement to help young people learn about computing and digital making. You can read more about our mission, values, and goals in our Annual Review 2023 and our Strategy 2022-2025 .

* Generous company pension scheme with 8% employer and 4% employee contributions
