An exciting new opportunity has arisen for a fixed term Booking Coordinator/Support Worker to support the introduction of a Breast Pain Clinic Pilot at MCHFT. The post holder will support the delivery of Breast Clinics and will provide highly efficient and comprehensive administrative support service to the Breast team. The post holder will work closely with the Breast Speciality Doctor who will provide day to day support and direction.
The team is looking for a dynamic, enthusiastic individual who will take ownership of the role and grow in post as the pilot develops.
Main duties of the job
Main duties of the job include:
* Work closely with and report to the Breast Speciality Doctor who will provide day to day support and direction.
* Co-ordinate the booking of outpatient appointments for the whole Breast service inclusive of but not limited to the Breast pain pilot clinics, specifically:
o Book appointments and communicate with patients, including the preparation and co-ordination of the Family History questionnaires that will be sent out prior to appointments.
o Receive and respond to patient queries regarding appointments.
o Provide patients with Breast care leaflets, check stock of leaflets and order as appropriate.
o Prepare paperwork for clinics.
o Chaperone patients in clinic while the Breast Speciality Doctor carries out physical examination and patient assessment.
o Complete all administration tasks after the appointment including letters and referrals.
o Communicate with GPs following appointments.

Person Specification
Qualifications/ Knowledge
* Good General Education with GCSE English and Mathematics.
* ECDL or equivalent experience.
* Level 3 Health or social care qualification (e.g. NVQ or similar).
* Relevant Health or Social Care experience including face to face patient contacts.
* Advanced knowledge of medical terminology.
* Experience of coaching/teaching patients and carers.
* Basic counselling.
* Experience coordinating a patient workload.
* Knowledge of relevant cancer treatments, interventions and terminology.
Skills
* Able to use own initiative and work without supervision.
* Able to prioritize work.
* Ability to communicate both verbally and non-verbally on a daily basis with people at all levels.
* Good observation skills.
* Ability to retrieve information from a wide range of sources and in different formats.
* Ability to solve problems & make decisions under pressure.
