The Director of Network Architecture is a strategic leadership role responsible for designing, developing, and implementing the organization’s network infrastructure and ensuring it meets current and future business needs. This individual will lead all aspects of the network architecture team, establish standard methodologies, and collaborate across departments to align network solutions with organizational goals. They are tasked with maintaining robust, scalable, and secure networks to support business operations, while also staying ahead of industry trends and emerging technologies.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Leadership:
1. Develop and implement a comprehensive network architecture strategy to support the organization’s growth and technological advancements.
2. Lead the design, implementation, and evolution of scalable, high-performing, and secure network systems.
Team Management:
1. Build, mentor, and manage a high-performing team of network architects and engineers.
2. Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and accountability within the team.
Design and Implementation:
1. Oversee the design of LAN, WAN, data center, cloud, and wireless network architectures.
2. Ensure network designs align with business goals, scalability, and security requirements.
3. Partner with IT, security, and other groups to deliver integrated solutions.
4. Stay informed about emerging network technologies and assess their applicability to the organization.
5. Recommend and lead all aspects of the adoption of new technologies to optimize network performance and efficiency.
Network Security:
1. Collaborate with the cybersecurity team to implement robust network security protocols and ensure compliance with industry standards.
2. Proactively address potential vulnerabilities and threats within the network infrastructure.
Budget and Vendor Management:
1. Manage budgets for network architecture initiatives and ensure cost-effective use of resources.
2. Supervise relationships with external vendors and service providers, including contract negotiations and performance evaluations.
Performance Monitoring and Reporting:
1. Define and monitor key performance indicators (critical metrics) for network infrastructure.
2. Provide regular updates to executive leadership on the status of network initiatives, challenges, and future opportunities.
WHAT YOU'LL BRING:
1. Demonstrated ability in network architecture, design, and implementation.
2. 5+ years in a leadership role managing technical teams.
3. Demonstrable experience with large-scale service provider and financial services grade network environments, including data center and cloud integration.
Technical Skills:
1. Deep expertise in multicast, Large scale Core routing and switching (e.g., Cisco, Juniper).
2. Financial Services, Service Provider, Low Latency and Market Venue / Exchange knowledge and experience.
3. Knowledge of cloud networking (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud).
4. Solid grasp of network security technologies (e.g., firewalls, VPNs, IDS/IPS).
Soft Skills:
1. Excellent leadership and team-building capabilities.
2. Good communication skills to engage with technical and non-technical partners.
3. Strategic problem solver with the ability to align technical initiatives with business objectives.
Preferred Certifications:
1. AWS Certified
2. Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP)
Additional Requirements:
1. Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
2. Willingness to travel occasionally for business needs.
This role is critical to ensuring the organization’s network infrastructure is resilient, secure, and future-ready, enabling seamless connectivity and efficient business operations.
