Key Responsibilities
* Lead and manage a team of solicitors, ensuring the delivery of innovative and pragmatic legal advice on planning, development, and highways matters.
* Provide expert legal counsel to public sector clients, including elected members and senior officers, ensuring compliance with statutory duties and protecting client interests.
* Handle a complex caseload, delivering well-researched, comprehensive advice.
* Represent clients in courts, tribunals, and negotiations, advocating on their behalf.
* Manage external legal suppliers (e.g., solicitors and barristers) to meet client needs effectively.
* Supervise and mentor team members, fostering a culture of excellence.
Required Qualifications & Experience
* Qualified Solicitor, Barrister, or Fellow of the Institute of Legal Executives.
* Knowledge of local government legal frameworks, particularly in planning and highways law.
* Proven experience advising on large-scale property development projects.
* Leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and develop others.
