The shift pattern for this position is (Please note the salary is Pro Rata) for part time hours.
An opportunity has arisen for an Optometrist to join the Optometry Team based in Greater Glasgow and in Clyde.
You will:
* Join the existing team of approx. 40 Optometrists who work in the 8 Ophthalmology departments across GG+C.
* Work within Optometry teams across GG&C with a focus on managing patients within paediatrics and low vision.
* You may have some clinical supervision responsibility for junior staff including Pre-Registration Optometrists and Health Care Support Workers.
Staff and clinic rotations may provide future opportunities to work within other core Optometry clinics as well as development into other extended roles within Ophthalmology.
This post is a permanent Wednesday (7.5 hours) at Inverclyde Royal Hospital. You will be covering a low vision clinic in the morning and a paediatric clinic in the afternoon and one Wednesday per month at Cowal Community Hospital Dunoon covering an all-day paediatric clinic. (But may be other sites within GG&C dependent on service requirements).
Previous hospital experience is desirable but not a pre-requisite. Ongoing comprehensive training will be provided to the successful candidate. This is an exciting opportunity for anyone looking to gain experience working in the Hospital Eye Service environment.

* Evidence of good communication and interpersonal skills.
* Ability to work independently yet also within a team.
* Ability to prioritise work load using effective time management skills.
Essential:
* You must have a Degree in Optometry and hold current General Optical Council registration.
* You will be required to cover clinics across sites, therefore the willingness to travel is essential.
Hours of work are: permanent 7.5 hrs per week. Closing date for receipt of completed application forms: 30.09.2024.
