In this role, you will be responsible for overseeing the daily operations of our summer school programme at Padworth Summer School. You will work closely with the Director of Summer School to ensure that the campus functions to the highest standards throughout the summer.

Salary: £900 per week + 12.07% holiday pay

Key Responsibilities:
Overall duties:
* deputising for the Director of Summer School in their absence
* assisting with campus set-up before arrival of staff onto campus
* assisting with briefing of staff during orientation training
* supporting with the general welfare and discipline of students
* being on-call and available to deal with emergencies on a 24-hour basis
* assisting with the supervision of all staff both onsite and offsite
* providing updates and referring matters to Director of Summer School
* reside on campus for the duration of employment
* assist with any other administrative duties as may be reasonably required by the Director of Summer School or Administrator and Recruitment Coordinator.
* to always promote and safeguard the welfare of all students and to monitor their wellbeing, actively seeking to resolve any issues or areas of concern.
* ensure Health & Safety and Child Safeguarding guidelines as per Government legislation are being adhered to, as well as the Staff Handbook and Padworth College policies and procedures and updating Director of Summer School of any shortcomings
* updating the Director of Summer School to any areas in need of improvement or attention
* Operations
* coordinating staff schedules and rotas in liaison with the Director of Summer School;
* liaising with Padworth support functions and the Director of Summer School to ensure daily Summer School processes are aligned to campus procedures; this may include room set-up, vehicle use, maintenance, catering, domestic requirements
* ensuring risk assessment documentation is completed for both onsite and offsite activities, trips and excursions and updating records where necessary
* acting as main contact and supporting Heads of Departments and academic staff with arrangements for offsite excursions and providing staff briefings
* Coordinating logistics required for all education and social trips in liaison with the Administrator and Recruitment Coordinator
* coordinating the Enrichment Activity programme in liaison with Head of Sports and Activities and providing support to staff
* working with the Operations team and the Summer School Administration team to ensure arrival and departure process is organised
* actively participating in the delivery of the Arrival, Orientation training, Awards, Hackathons, and departures
* covering the Summer School Office, dealing with non-academic student enquiries;
* liaising with external suppliers, where required, to ensure booking requirements are met.
Other duties
* working closely with Summer School Office team and the wider team to ensure continuity of processes
* performing campus checks and walk arounds in the evenings to ensure the campus is operating as it should be
* any other duties as instructed by the Director of Summer School
Person Specification/ Qualifications and Skills:
* Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g., Business, Education, Management, Hospitality) preferred.
* Prior experience working in a summer school or residential camp setting in a leadership or supervisory role.
* Strong organisational and multitasking abilities, with the capacity to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with students, staff, parents, and other stakeholders.
* Knowledge and understanding of best practices in student welfare, safety, and risk management.
* Current first aid certification and experience in dealing with medical emergencies is advantageous.
* Must be able to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, to accommodate programme needs.
* A D1 driving licence is advantageous
Hours of work
Variable hours between 7:00am and 11.00pm. Shifts and time off are organised on a rota basis and set by the Director of Summer School.
The Assistant Director will be given one full 24-hour period off as a minimum each week as well as one afternoon/evening or half day – They are not required to stay on-site during this time.
