About the team
The Traincrew Strategy team's main responsibility is to ensure that GWR is resourced appropriately to deliver our timetable to our customers, largely through development of long-term Workforce Plans.
About the job:
The Workforce Planning Manager – Stations role sits within the Traincrew Strategy Team, within the Operations Directorate. This role is essential to ensure the development and operation of a Workforce Plan within the stations function; to ensure effective and accurate recruitment plans are produced for the business. This role will also provide support to other functions workforce plans and assist in strategic decision-making through the interrogation of diverse datasets.
This individual will work closely with the Head of Traincrew Strategy to help develop and implement a forward-facing strategy that utilises the full available workforce effectively.
Your main responsibilities will be:
* To develop and operate the Workforce Plan for which you are responsible.
* To engage with a broad range of stakeholders to ensure robust and accurate updates to the Stations Workforce Plan; disseminating valuable information to key parties as required.
* To support Workforce Planning peers in the completion of their duties. Ensuring competence in other areas to cover work requirements during leave and sickness.
* Analyse Workforce Planning data to highlight risks to the business and report these risks to the Head of Traincrew Strategy and Functional Heads.
* To provide tailored support and reporting to the Head of Stations around workforce planning.
* To assist and educate the wider management team in the Workforce Plan methodology.
* Providing support to regional and station managers by highlighting key risks and suggesting mitigation strategies.
* Undertake personal projects to improve the overall business response to strategic challenges.
* Assist in the optioning and formulation of traincrew rosters at timetable change.
As a minimum you will need to have:
* An understanding of Workforce planning and the associated models that govern the discipline.
* Demonstrable work experience in the administrative tasks required in workforce planning or a comparable discipline.
* An appreciation of traincrew rosters and crew diagrams and the impact they have on Workforce Planning.
* Experience in communicating to all tiers of an organisation; establishing relationships with a broad range of stakeholders.
* Excellent logic skills with an ability to solve problems in a calm and systemic way.
* Full computer literacy with experience in different operating systems.
* Evidence an advanced level of competence in Excel.
About the location
This role can be based anywhere on the GWR network with a minimum expectation of 2 days per week in Swindon. Opportunity to work flexibly around the needs of the role.
Working pattern
Office hours – Monday-Friday, 37 hours per week.
