Lawrence Hill Health Centre is a vibrant inner-city practice, as a clinical team we are passionate about the care of our patients who come from diverse ethnic and social backgrounds and we work collaboratively to strive for tangible and lasting improvements to their a first contact physiotherapist you will be providing clinical expertise, diagnostics and decision making to manage adult MSK patients. This will involve seeing patients without prior contact with their GP as the first point of contact. If you are an experienced and motivated MSK physiotherapist, who is passionate about Primary Care and the First Contact Physiotherapist role, this could be the post for you.
Main duties of the job
To act as a First Contact Physiotherapist Practitioner in Primary Care providing clinical expertise, diagnostics and decision making to manage MSK patients older than 18 years of age. This will involve seeing patients without prior contact with their GP.
To support self-management, facilitating: behavioural change in line with public health; mobility and physical activity; personal goal achievement and minimising the need for pharmacological intervention.
To operate according to the FCP MSK Memorandum of Understanding / Agreement in GP practices, managing the GP MSK patient workload through independent assessment, diagnosis and ongoing management of the Patients musculoskeletal concern.

Job responsibilities
To provide highly skilled Musculoskeletal Clinical assessment, diagnosis, advisory, triaging and onward referral for patients presenting with MSK concerns demonstrating Specialist Practice, ensuring the services are delivered in line with current trends in health care delivery, following current evidence based practice and skills in keeping with the Specialist Practice and MSK Frameworks.
Taking professional responsibility to flexibly, independently and safely manage own Primary Care complex MSK clinical caseload supported by a GP / Physiotherapy Lead mentor.
To maintain a high level of expertise within this specialty, ensuring implementation of evidence-based practice and auditable standards accountable for decisions and actions through HCPC registration.
To ensure timely and effective communication with the Lead GP, Physiotherapy Team Lead and Team Leaders / Practice Management on relevant matters.

Qualifications
Essential
1. Mandatory registration with Health and Care Professional Council.
2. Member of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy.
3. Has completed an undergraduate degree in Physiotherapy.
4. Masters degree or the equivalent specialist knowledge, skills and experience.
Desirable
5. May hold or be working towards a prescribing qualification.

6. Can demonstrate ability to operate at an advanced level of practice.
7. Demonstrates general physiotherapy skills and knowledge in core areas.
8. Is able to plan, manage, monitor, advise and review general physiotherapy care programmes for patients in core areas, including diseases/long term conditions identified by local needs assessment.
9. Demonstrates accountability for delivering professional expertise and direct service provision.
10. In depth therapeutic and clinical knowledge and understanding of the principles of evidence based healthcare.
11. An understanding of the nature of GPs and general practices.
12. Excellent interpersonal, influencing and negotiating skills.
13. Excellent written and verbal communication skills adapted to a wide range of health knowledge and understanding.
14. Demonstrates understanding of the physiotherapy role in governance and is able to implement this appropriately within the workplace.
15. Can operate as a full member of the primary care team, including contributing to leadership, service evaluation and research activity.
16. Can manage and co-ordinate care that individual patients receive, including through liaising with other members of the MDT and with patients/carers.
17. Contributes to the use of healthcare technologies to optimise the integration of service delivery and patients access and continuity of care.
18. Good IT skills.
19. Able to obtain and analyse complex technical information.
20. Able to work under pressure and to meet deadlines.
21. Work effectively, independently and as a team member.
