The Planning Lead will serve as the technical expert for planning and scheduling within a strategic portfolio of projects. Reporting to the Strategic Portfolio PMO Lead, you will own and maintain planning processes, templates, and tools, including Earned Value Management (SPI) and the Work Breakdown Structure. You will support contingency management, oversee scheduling personnel, and ensure consistent application of best practices across the portfolio.
Key Responsibilities:
* Technical Leadership: Serve as the planning and scheduling expert across the strategic portfolio.
* Process Ownership: Develop, own, and maintain planning and scheduling processes, templates, and tools.
* Earned Value Management: Implement and manage Earned Value techniques (SPI) to monitor project performance.
* Work Breakdown Structure: Maintain and update the Work Breakdown Structure for the portfolio.
* Contingency Management: Support contingency planning and risk management activities.
* Team Support: Assist in recruiting and allocating P6 Schedulers to various projects.
* Training and Development: Upskill schedulers and ensure the consistent application of the planning and scheduling playbook.
* Governance Participation: Attend governance meetings as required, providing expert insights.
* Reporting: Generate schedule presentations and provide consolidated schedule reports for the portfolio.
* System Maintenance: Maintain the scheduling system (Primavera P6), ensure data integrity, and manage system configurations, licenses, and user permissions.
* Quality Assurance: Review project schedule baselines and ensure integration of contractor schedules into master project schedules.
* Performance Oversight: Oversee and audit contractors' schedule performance to ensure alignment with project objectives.
* Knowledge Transfer: Facilitate cross-project knowledge sharing and lessons learned in planning and scheduling.
Qualifications and Experience
* Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Project Management, or a related field.
* Extensive experience in planning and scheduling within large-scale projects, preferably in the energy sector.
* Proficiency with Primavera P6 scheduling software.
* Strong understanding of Earned Value Management techniques.
* Experience in developing and maintaining Work Breakdown Structures.
* Proven ability to lead and mentor a team of schedulers.
* Familiarity with risk management and contingency planning.
