Our Client
Our client is a charity committed to funding over £1.5m annually to provide high-quality hospice care. They are seeking a Finance Officer to work alongside the current Finance Officer and assist the Head of Finance in all aspects of the finance function's effective operation.
The Role
* Oversee and reconcile weekly income integration from EPOS and donor management systems onto SAGE50.
* Perform weekly bank reconciliations for all charity and subsidiary accounts.
* Reconcile miscellaneous accounts such as eBay and PayPal.
* Conduct monthly balance sheet reconciliations.
* Ensure correct VAT treatment for all transactions.
* Act as the interface with the outsourced payroll provider (training provided).
* Properly file and retain all transaction documentation.
* Manage Accounts Payable Assistant's work, including posting prepayments, accruals, and recurring journals, and reconciling intercompany accounts.
* Ensure data integrity and accuracy in the financial system for reporting deadlines.
* Contribute to streamlining financial processes and controls.
* Support the year-end audit process.
The Candidate
* Relevant experience in a similar role.
* Accountancy qualification preferred (minimum AAT L4 or equivalent); QBE considered.
* Understanding of payroll helpful but training provided.
* Excellent attention to detail, literacy, and numeracy skills.
* Proactive with a desire to improve processes.
* Highly motivated, professional, and confidential.
* Efficient and well-organized.
* Strong IT skills, including Excel and Sage 50 or equivalent.
* Experience working in similar organizations.
* Good communication skills, both verbal and written.
* Team player with the ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
* Ability to explain complex financial issues clearly.
The Terms

* This is a permanent role (~25 hours/week), worked across 4 or 5 days (e.g., 9am-2pm over 5 days or longer days over 4 days).
* Hybrid working model: more time in-office (e.g., 3 days in, 2 at home for 5-day workweek; 3 days in, 1 at home for 4-day workweek). Location: Aylesbury, with free onsite parking.
* Salary: £32,000 FTE (dependent on qualifications and experience).
* Workplace pension: 5% employer contribution, with an option to increase to 6%.
