Description ABOUT YOU We are seeking Propulsion Test Technician on night shift who will have knowledge of Powertrain and/or Vehicle component fitting skills. You will be highly motivated, have a hunger for learning and developing new skills and possess a strong ambition to succeed. Required Skills and Experience: Vocational qualification in a mechanical or electrical engineering discipline is desirable, but extensive experience will also be considered Proven Powertrain and/or Vehicle component fitting skills Adaptability and applied learning Ability to work autonomously Maintaining clear and traceable documentation Use of suitable hand and power tools for manual tasks Strong H&S awareness and understanding (Detailed electrical safety training will be provided) Beneficial Skills and Experience: Practical knowledge of vehicle systems Powertrain systems testing knowledge (Engines/Transmissions/EV/Hybrid) Experience with EV powertrain or Hybrid system test operations Knowledge of AC and DC electrical systems ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY You will deliver projects for key OEM and tier 1 clients and cover product research, development and durability testing. Projects will include combustion engines and transmissions. As part of a flexible and agile workforce, there will be opportunities to work on hybrid systems and electric propulsion (eMotor, eAxle, ePowertrain and Battery). You will be supporting propulsion test programmes on a shift pattern alternating between early and late shifts between 06:00-14:00 and 14:00-22:00 Monday to Friday. Additional weekend overtime hours may be required to support customer demands and deadlines. Key activities: Work includes mechanical and electrical rigging, fitting and operating test systems as well as general engineering tasks in the workshop. Conduct fitting work and testing on engines, transmissions, hybrid systems, EV or components in line with project requirements and ensure tests conform to customer instructions Responsible for the operation of multiple test rigs using defined test methods and scripts Execution of test and development activities, including reporting Help to implement and follow safe systems of work Maintain test bed files and all relevant forms, data sheets and logbooks Follow procedures for the booking out of store items and help to manage stock or consumable items where appropriate Ensure all instrumentation used is calibrated in line with company procedures Provide adequate information to other test technicians and other personnel involved to ensure smooth shift handovers Assist in the resolution of customer complaints, recommending & co-ordinating appropriate corrective & preventive management actions To assist in the investigation and implementation of departmental efficiency improvements To identify problems and faults as they arise and provide the initiative for solutions WHAT WE OFFER Join Intertek and become part of our global network of inspiring and entrepreneurial colleagues.
