We are seeking a Project Development Manager for a major solar energy producer to manage the Spanish market.
Missions of the position
1. Developing utility-scale battery storage projects until Ready-to-Build milestone including the management of the collaboration with external development entities.
2. Ensuring follow-up of the stakeholders of the project like grid operators, local authorities, landowners and the wider public as part of the project development process.
3. Evaluating the economic and technical aspects of BESS projects, supporting origination into greenfield, co-development and M&A opportunities.
4. Coordinating between the local business team and ESS technical team from Head Quarter in France and local engineering offices.
5. Contributing to the estimation of revenue stacks for storage projects in Spain with an understanding of regulation and the country’s electricity market mechanism (Wholesale, ancillary service, etc.).
6. Supporting internal areas and management to develop the business and operating models and business cases together with the local business development teams and the central trading and finance functions.
7. Analyzing and reporting on Reden pipeline of BESS projects in Spain.
8. Supporting the Origination team to develop battery and other storage solutions that can be integrated with the existing renewables asset portfolio as well as with new opportunities.
9. Performing site visits for the BESS project to analyze the technical feasibility of the pipeline being supported from the technical team.
10. Liaising with internal and external stakeholders regarding technological, regulatory, and business developments for storage solutions and continuously updating the solution portfolio to fit market needs.
11. Defining and following up the scope of work of third-party consultants, validating their work.
Experience Required
1. Master in energy/electrical engineering or environmental science.
2. Deep knowledge of the Spanish electrical system & market and energy projects permitting process.
3. At least 5-10 years of working experience in battery business development at utility scale, with relevant experience in procurement, construction and commissioning activities, energy management in retail business or relevant sectors.
4. High proactivity and drive, independent way of working.
5. Excellent project management skills, ability to adapt to changes, find solutions and conclude complex projects in a timely manner.
6. Strong entrepreneurial skills with a result-oriented approach.
7. Ability to work cross-functionally and within multicultural, geographically distributed teams.
8. Fluent Spanish and English required.
