Our Apprenticeship Programme
The Linde Material Handling (MH) Engineering Apprenticeship Programme aims to develop skilled engineers to support our demand for field, workshop, and site-based engineers. The main purpose of the role is to learn how to become a fully competent Linde engineer by applying college learning and demonstrating this knowledge to mentors, the Apprentice Development Officer, and college assessors to meet customer needs and provide effective material handling solutions.
We are currently looking for an enthusiastic Apprentice Engineer, to be field-based, covering East Lothian and the EH postcode. You should be passionate about engineering, eager to learn, motivated to succeed, and interested in joining a multinational engineering company to start your career.
You will need to commit to a three-year training program, culminating in a Level 3 apprenticeship in Lift Truck & Powered Access Engineering. Throughout this period, you will be supported by a dedicated Mentor and an Apprentice Development Officer, who will monitor your progress through college and on-the-job training. You will learn to inspect, maintain, service, and repair various types of material handling equipment, including forklift trucks and warehouse equipment.
Travel to college and overnight stays will be required, with costs for travel, accommodation, and meals covered by us.
Upon successful completion, you will be a qualified Linde engineer, ready to start your career with a market leader.
Your duties during the apprenticeship include:
* Attending all required training courses (internal & external).
* Passing all knowledge block training tests at college.
* Passing End Point Assessment for Level 3 in Lift Truck & Powered Access Engineering.
* Passing all assessments on safety, product knowledge, and diagnostics.
* Completing online tests and assessments within deadlines.
* Maintaining an e-Portfolio to the required standards.
* Collaborating with trainers to achieve your qualification.
* Gaining competence in preventative maintenance, repairs, and diagnostics on Linde equipment.
Qualifications and skills required:
To succeed, you should have a passion for engineering, be motivated, and willing to learn. Good communication skills and a confident, positive attitude are essential, along with pride in your work and flexibility to adapt. Demonstrating that you are a brand ambassador for Linde is desirable.
Requirements include:
* GCSE Grade 4 or above in Maths and English, or a National 5 in Scotland.
* An interest in engineering and technology.
What we offer:
* Salary in line with the Government Apprentice rate, with enhancements for 16-17-year-olds.
