Are you a skilled Mechanical Engineer with a passion for ensuring the smooth operation of critical systems? We€re looking for a dedicated and proactive FM Mechanical Engineer to join our dynamic team at the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh Hospital. What Will You Be Doing?
As part of our team, you€ll play a key role in maintaining and servicing a diverse range of mechanical equipment, including complex systems found in large industrial settings, such as dual-fired boilers and HVAC systems. Your work will directly support the hospital€s operations, helping to ensure a safe and reliable environment for both staff and patients.
In this role, you€ll perform fault-finding on critical systems like medical gas systems, pressure heating water systems (MTHW/LTHW), pressurised steam systems, and other essential equipment. You will use cause-and-effect analysis to diagnose issues, referencing detailed schematics and drawings. Additionally, you will conduct planned preventative maintenance (PPM), inspections, commissioning, and testing, ensuring compliance with all procedures and safety guidelines. Marking up drawings and completing all necessary reports and certificates following testing will also be part of your responsibilities.
You€ll be responsible for safely operating a variety of specialized tools and equipment, ranging from welding gear to emergency generators and medical gas equipment. At the same time, you will strictly adhere to safety protocols, including risk assessments, infection control, and hazardous substance management, maintaining the highest standards of safety across the site.

What We€re Looking For:
To succeed in this role, you€ll need an apprenticeship in Mechanical or Engineering (City & Guilds, SVQ3, or equivalent) and a proven track record of maintaining complex mechanical systems. The ability to pass a DS Basic check is essential for this role.
