The duties and responsibilities to be undertaken by Health Care Assistant may include any or all of the items in the following list: Annual Health Checks for patients Measuring and recording: Blood pressure, pulse rate, height and weight, body mass index, temperature etc. Act as a chaperone as and when required. Wound care/dressings within sphere of competence. Vaccine/cold chain storage, monitoring and recording. Preparing and maintaining environments and equipment before, during and after patient care interventions. Assisting in the assessment and surveillance of patients health and well-being. Ensure consultation rooms are clean and well stocked. Checking calibration and cleaning of equipment. Give accurate and appropriate information to patients and groups within own competence. Remove sutures and clips. Flu, Pneumonia and COVID-19 injections (training provided if necessary). Support the Practice Nurse with management of chronic disease clinics. Processing and management of laboratory samples requested by GPs/Nurses. Vaccine/cold chain storage, monitoring and recording. Ensure clinical waste is removed from clinical areas and left at collection point in accordance with practice policies. Helping to raise awareness of health and well-being and how it can be promoted. Assisting with the collection and collation of data on needs related to health and well-being. BP monitoring. Urinalysis as required. Wound care and compression therapy and removal of sutures/clips. Smoking prevention as applicable. Ear Syringing.
