Health and Safety Officer

Due to ongoing growth, my client is looking to add to their rapidly growing team in the form of a Health and Safety Officer. This globally renowned company manufacture labels and supply machinery into the food production industry.
The Role:
Advise employees on minimizing workplace risks and hazards.
Ensure compliance with Health & Safety regulations, COSHH, infection control, and waste disposal.
Perform first aid duties.
Train and support employees in maintaining and improving workplace safety.
Conduct workplace safety inspections (e.g., noise monitoring).
Assist in developing and managing health and safety policies and monitoring systems.
Oversee emergency procedures, including fire drills and emergency team coordination.
Provide general health and safety guidance.
Facilitate statutory inspections for LOLER and compressed air systems.
Record weekly safety tours and log accidents/incidents.
Act as the primary contact for maintenance requests and defects.
Arrange and oversee maintenance work, liaising with contractors and employees.
Obtain quotations for facility-related work.The Candidate:
Previous experience in a safety health and environmental role in food/FMCG or manufacturing environment
Proven confidence and resilience to deal with challenges from external and internal stakeholders.
Must be able to multi-task, be detail orientated and possess strong analytical skills
Ability to work under pressure, be team focused, influential, flexible and confident
Exercise good judgement, knows when to flag issues and when to deal with independently
Strong communication skills at all levels, both verbal and written and excellent presentation skills
Energy, enthusiasm and commitment are essential characteristics in this fast-moving environment
Full drivers’ licence
Experience in facilities administration desirable
Knowledge of The Health & Safety at Work etc Act 1974 plus applicable regulations
IOSH and NEBOSH National General Certificate or equivalent qualificationSalary & Benefits:
This is a full-time permanent position, working Monday – Friday 8:30am – 5pm with a salary of up to £40,000.
