Multi-Skilled Engineer – Mechanical Bias
Salary: £48,500 per annum, plus overtime and opportunities to learn and grow
Hours: Panama Shift Pattern, 6 till 6, days and nights (Working 7 of every 14 Days)
Location: Bishop Auckland Area - Commutable from Durham, Darlington, Billingham, Stockton on Tees, Middlesbrough, Hartlepool, Sunderland, Eggleston, Consett and surrounding areas

We are currently recruiting for a Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer – ideally with a Mechanical Bias to work within a heavy manufacturing company at one of their leading automated factories. You will benefit from a friendly and loyal team of Maintenance Engineers working in this fast-paced environment. The role is varied and enjoyable where you can expect to be challenged and supported as the team work to continuously improve the production machinery.
Responsibilities
This role will involve all aspects of troubleshooting, problem solving and project work. You will be required to look for and implement continuous improvements individually and as part of a team. In addition, you will also plan and carry out preventative maintenance (PPM) to ensure a high standard of plant maintenance is always achieved. You will assist in all maintenance activities on site. The successful candidate will be working as part of the mechanical maintenance team ensuring that all plant equipment is operating efficiently with the minimum amount of downtime and in a safe order. You will also need to adhere to strict health and safety requirements at all times.
1. Mechanical & some Electrical maintenance of plant machinery through fault finding, planned maintenance, shutdowns and project work.
2. Ensure that repairs are carried out promptly and safely.
3. Complete reports/paperwork accurately.
4. Assist with the installation of new plant equipment.
5. Develop an understanding of machinery operation so that faults can be diagnosed and rectified more efficiently.
6. Provide good communication to both colleagues and production, keeping the required logs of maintenance work.
7. Always work safely and follow safe systems of work.
The role will include all mechanical issues including Hydraulics, Pneumatics, Belts, Chains, Gear Boxes, Pumps, Bearings, Welding and Fabricating etc and electrical fault finding with electrical automated machinery and electrical control systems.
Requirements
1. Completed a recognised Mechanical Engineering Apprenticeship or hold Level 3 Mechanical Engineering qualifications. Additional Electrical qualifications are a bonus.
2. Have experience working within a similar environment; Industrial, Production or Manufacturing environments - most considered.
3. Have good production maintenance experience; dealing with machinery and equipment problems and breakdowns and/or completing preventative maintenance of plant/industrial machinery.
4. Good skills & experience with Hydraulics, Pneumatics, electrical control systems, welding & fabrication.
5. Are motivated and driven to succeed.
6. Are willing to take on and complete further training as part of your professional growth and development in the factory and company.
