About the Role:
We are looking for a compassionate and dedicated Special Educational Needs (SEN) Teaching Assistant to join our dynamic team in St Albans. This is an exciting opportunity to work closely with students who have a range of additional learning needs, supporting them in achieving their full potential in an inclusive and supportive classroom environment. The ideal candidate will be empathetic, patient, and committed to helping students thrive academically and personally.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Provide one-on-one and small group support for students with Special Educational Needs.
2. Assist in the planning and delivery of tailored learning activities to meet the individual needs of students.
3. Support students with tasks such as reading, writing, and completing activities to ensure they are fully engaged in lessons.
4. Help to implement Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and work closely with the class teacher to monitor and assess students' progress.
5. Foster a positive, inclusive, and nurturing classroom environment.
6. Provide emotional and behavioural support, helping students build confidence and self-esteem.
7. Encourage social interaction and support students in developing their communication and life skills.
8. Assist in maintaining records of students' progress and contribute to reviews of their development.
9. Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCo, and other staff to create a supportive learning environment.
About You:
1. Experience working with students with Special Educational Needs, ideally in a primary or secondary setting is desirable but not essential.
2. A caring and empathetic approach, with the ability to build strong, trusting relationships with students.
3. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
4. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
5. Strong organisational skills and the ability to multitask effectively.
6. A patient, calm, and proactive attitude, with a genuine passion for supporting students' learning and development.
7. A commitment to professional development and learning.
