You will be a Legal Business Partner advising on all online and digital matters for the Group's UK businesses and in particular support the Online Directors a to help drive competitiveness and business objectives. Through commercially focussed partnerships, you will influence key stakeholders and provide commercial and legally robust solutions to deliver our strategy effectively and within the Group's risk appetite.
You will be responsible for
* Being a strategic business partner to our Online business to drive competitiveness and business objectives
* Advising on a broad range of strategic legal projects (e.g. scaling of recently launched Marketplace and on demand services such as Whoosh)
* You will own and oversee all advice to the Online business. You will identify and advise on general commercial matters but also privacy, marketing and competition law issues collaborating in the background with our centres of excellence where necessary.
* You will work to become a centre of excellence on consumer law as it applies to online sales.
* Horizon scan emerging issues likely to impact our businesses, and mitigate their risk through consultations and influencing
* Thinking "outside of the box" to give practical and innovative commercial solutions to problems
* Support Online to embed its ethics and compliance agenda, including developing and delivering training and designing blueprints for new risks
* Developing the capabilities of less experienced members of the Team and providing direction and advice to them and acting as escalation for strategic legal issues
* Delivering the Group Legal Vision 2026 Transformation, evolving legal processes across Commercial (for example, implementing simplified engagement processes through a legal intake form) with the use of technology and driving simplification and automation
You will need
* A high degree of commercial acumen and curiosity
* Strong general commercial experience, ideally in an in-house environment
* In-depth knowledge of the regulatory and legislative landscape
* The ability to explain complex concepts to business colleagues in simple terms and influence stakeholders positively
* To Work independently and collaboratively in a collegial, fast-paced team environment
* To be comfortable carrying a varied and sometimes unpredictable workload
