Various departments and locations across central Oxford and Headington £25,331 per annum About the role The role will include a wide array of tasks around the setup and maintenance of IT equipment as well as Audio Visual support and Data management. These roles provide an excellent opportunity for a hardworking, organised and enthusiastic individual who wants to gain a broad range of IT Support skills with the ability to work at a fast pace within a successful team.Below is a list of some of the tasks you may be asked to complete, however, please note specific responsibilities may vary depending on the department or division in which the role is based:
1. As a working learner your focus will be to complete your apprenticeship studies by learning and developing your skills, knowledge and behaviours whilst obtaining hands on experience of working with technology, processes and teams.
2. Learn to provide first-line desktop/laptop/smartphone support for the department’s staff and students.
3. Learn to identify and provide support for common hardware issues (failed drives, power source issues, fan cleaning) and software problems
4. Learn to Install and configure new devices for university staff use, network connections, network file drive and printer access.
5. Learn to develop, implement and maintain internal ICT systems.
6. Learn and develop to manage a case load of service incidents and standard change requests, always ensuring that requests are handled correctly and to a high standard.
7. Lean the departmental Audio-Visual systems and provide support for staff, students – for e.g. – supporting University Lecturers on how to carry out recording.
8. You will be working across multiple Departments within the University on a rotational basis.
9. Present a pleasant, helpful and professional demeanour when dealing with customers, teams and senior management.
10. Contribute to the creation and maintenance of system documentation and operating procedures.
11. Contribute to the creation and maintenance of web guidance for users.
12. Contribute to the activities of the Department through projects or such other tasks as are appropriate in relation to the skills and abilities of the post holder.
13. Contribute towards the Digital Skills Team: designing, delivering, and supporting face-to-face workshops on IT projects.
14. Contribute to supporting delivery and promoting the University's digital skills programme and digital capability service offer through guidance, systems, and processes.

About the apprenticeship As an Apprentice IT Support Officer, you will undertake an apprenticeship with Basingstoke ITEC, where you will complete a Level 3 Information Communications Technician (Support Technician) Apprenticeship. For this apprenticeship, you will work within a department at the University of Oxford, in central Oxford or Headington. As part of your apprenticeship, you will be required to spend at least 20% of your working hours training or studying, which will include regular online classes with Basingstoke ITEC. In total, it will take 18-24 months to complete all elements of the apprenticeship, with support from the Department, University, and College throughout.
