The Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering is seeking an enthusiastic and well-motivated Post-Doctoral Research Associate (PDRA) to join an innovative project to use machine learning approaches to develop a rotary-wing flight simulation model, for deployment and testing in the department’s flight simulation facilities. The project aims to demonstrate that the fidelity of predicted aircraft responses can be improved to enable certification by simulation as well as enhanced pilot training using a flight simulation environment. We are open to a variety of candidates for this role: the main criteria is a proven track record in a related area, preferably, in machine learning and AI. You should have a PhD in a relevant subject. To be considered for this post, you should include a covering letter that sets out your skills and career motivation. The post is fixed term and is available initially for 12 months. If you are still awaiting your PhD to be awarded you will be appointed at Grade 6, spine point 30. Upon written confirmation that you have been awarded your PhD, your salary will be increased to Grade 7, spine point 31.
