Astutes Power Team are working with a leading organisation for a Health & Safety Manager for a new build Energy from Waste Power Station located in Cheshire. As a Health & Safety Manager, you will be responsible for all H&S activities on site ranging from inspections, audits, training, coordination, and reviewing/management of EHS documents.
This role sits within part of a wider HSE team, and you may be expected to support elsewhere within the business.

Responsibilities and duties:
Reporting to the Plant Manager, you will be responsible for:
1. Managing the site's Health & Safety communications.
2. Developing and managing the risk assessment/accident reporting system.
3. Liaising with external bodies.
4. Advising on environmental issues.
5. Monitoring the performance of the plant's health & safety program and identifying opportunities to increase effectiveness.
6. Carrying out on-site audits and investigations.
7. Developing a strong H&S culture.
8. Managing and updating the site's H&S systems.
9. Coordinating emergency response training.
10. Providing H&S training for O&M staff.
Professional qualifications
We are looking for someone with the following:
1. Ideally degree qualified in a technical/environmental background.
2. A NEBOSH certificate qualification is required as a minimum for this position.
Personal skills
The Health & Safety Manager would suit someone who has:
1. A strong background in Health and Safety gained in a heavy process or engineering environment. This can include Power Generation, Refineries, Manufacturing, FMCG, Food, Petrochemical, etc.
2. At least five years experience in a Health & Safety Management position.
3. An understanding of permits/compliance would be advantageous.
