Millfield Summer Camp is looking for enthusiastic and passionate staff to help provide an exciting, interesting, and safe environment for our international participants aged between 8 and 16.
We have opportunities for Activity, Pastoral, Operational, Technical, and Teaching staff for full-time temporary contracts in July and August 2025.
Full training offered. Accommodation and food available for the duration of your contract.
Job Description: Activity & Social Co-ordinator
Responsible to: The Activity & Social Manager who in turn will be responsible to the Centre Manager / Millfield Summer Camp Manager and then the Director of Enterprises.
Job Purpose: To ensure the safe and smooth running of the Millfield Summer Camp Social Programme.
MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
* Safeguarding children is the responsibility of all members of Millfield staff.
* You are to work closely with the Activity & Social Manager.
* You are responsible for planning and delivering the social programme and assisting with the organisation, co-ordination, and representation of the Activity and Pastoral teams as well as for their good conduct and general welfare with the Activity & Social Manager at social events.
* You are to report any matters of indiscipline, misbehaviour, major complaint, accident, illness, or personal problems on the part of staff or children to the Centre Manager / Millfield Summer Camp Manager as soon as possible.
* You will work with the Operations and Activity teams to deliver a high-quality social programme.
* You are to help ensure the fun element of summer camp where participant (and staff) morale is your priority.
* You are to help the Activity & Social Manager organise and present the “big” events and social evenings.
* You are to help allocate staff as needed to your social programme.
* You are to liaise with the Pastoral, Activity, and Operations teams as well as with the Managers and other Co-ordinators over fair allocation of work between your team.
* You must advertise the programme in the relevant areas around the school.
* With the Activity & Social Manager, you are responsible for participant and staff safety during the social programme ensuring that general safety procedures are observed at all times.
* You are to read and understand the Staff Guide and be familiar with our policies for the welfare and safeguarding of children.
* Acquaint yourself with all relevant fire, safety, and health arrangements.
* You must ensure that all Risk Assessments have been undertaken.
* You must ensure every member of your team is aware of health and safety issues, and the first aid procedure.
* You must ensure that all the correct procedures for reporting are followed by your team.
* It is your duty to ensure all children are busy, safe, and tired and that you are to be seen smiling at all times.
OTHER
* Apart from your responsibilities as Social Co-ordinator, you are expected to take a full and active part in Summer camp life.
* You are to participate in and help with the staff induction.
* You are to always behave in a professional manner ensuring that your own conduct in front of participants is of the highest standard.
* You will be representing the good name of Millfield School at all times.
* Any other duties that your line manager sees fit providing that such duties are appropriate to your role.
PERSONAL SPECIFICATION
* Be well-equipped and prepared for the responsibility that comes with being Social Co-ordinator.
* Have prior experience with the supervision of children.
* A good team member but must be able to work on own initiative.
* Self-motivation and the ability to motivate others.
* Use of IT packages including Microsoft Office, Outlook, Word, Excel.
* Excellent communication skills.
* Ability to adapt to a changing environment.
* Ability to manage others.
* A First Aid qualification is desirable.
