An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Operational Performance team, within the National Cancer Programme, as Transformation Lead, taking a leading role in developing and implementing national strategy for improving performance against the national Cancer Waiting Time standards.

The post provides leadership and oversees management of the Operational Performance team, who lead nationally on the approach to improvement performance against the national Cancer Waiting Time standards.

Job responsibilities
We are looking for someone with significant cancer-specific operational and commissioning experience within the health service, with an in-depth knowledge of NHS Performance Standards and how these can be improved and managed in practice. This includes having subject level expertise on the Cancer Waiting Times, built up through your experience.
Additionally, you will have experience managing large-scale programmes of work and have developed a set of wide-ranging written and verbal presentation skills, including experience of presenting to both clinical and managerial audiences at Board level.
You will also have experience in leading and developing teams, including direct line management of staff, and have experience of developing large-scale stakeholder engagement plans.
Person Specification
Qualifications
* Educated to masters level or equivalent level of experience of working at a senior level in a specialist area.
* Evidence of post qualifying and continuing professional development.
Knowledge & Experience
* Significant Senior Operational and Commissioning Experience within the NHS.
* Experience of leading a Cancer portfolio through a combination of working directly in Operational and Commissioning of services.
* Knowledge of Cancer Waiting Times Standards and how these apply to Cancer pathways.
Skills and Capabilities
* Wide-ranging experience of presenting, including presenting at board level within the health service.
* Significant staff management experience, including leading a team, conducting appraisals and management of performance & sickness as required.
* Experience of programme management in a large-scale organisation and operating within complex organisational structures.
* Experience at a senior level in developing strategy and service development to improve patient experience and outcomes.
* Experience of successfully operating in complex, highly politicised environments and effectively managing competing priorities and stakeholders.
