About The Role
We are looking to strengthen our Procurement team with a Buyer based at Hattersley with hybrid working available.
You will report directly to the Procurement manager and your role is to provide procurement and supply chain activities in line with Company and Client policies and procedures.
Key responsibilities:
* Development and execution of category strategy and supplier development plans.
* Manage and maintain central frameworks and subcontracts to provide end-to-end supply chain advice, sourcing, supply assurance, delivery, supply chain management, and tasking against requirements.
* Collaboratively develop, prepare, and issue tender packages with key stakeholders to ensure alignment of targets, improve supplier performance, and implement continuous improvement plans.
* Take ownership and manage commercial terms, conditions, and levels of service (including KPIs) with suppliers.
* Address and resolve issues that arise internally and externally, serving as the primary escalation point for day-to-day issues and personally handling the most complex inquiries.
* Conduct supplier performance management, monthly reporting and developing improvement plans where necessary.
* Coordinate, collate, analyse, and process consolidated invoicing for key framework suppliers, developing a plan to manage off-framework purchases.
* Establish and develop excellent working relationships with clients, customers, suppliers, internal functions, and other relevant external bodies.
* Harness innovative solutions from existing and future supply chain partners.
* Work with the SHEQ team to ensure the supply chain meets its health and safety obligations and carries out appropriate corrective actions where necessary.
* Support any requirements from internal and external audits as needed.
* Ensure compliance with processes, governance, and controls as outlined in the procurement rules.
* Maintain and enhance IFS (our ERP system).
* Collaborate with peers to develop and enhance value, systems, processes, and best practices to help MWHT achieve best-in-class performance and bring consistency to sourcing activities.
* Support procurement team members in other duties as required, such as reporting and cost analysis.
* In all internal and external contacts, present a professional and positive image of the department/company while maintaining mutually constructive, positive, and beneficial relationships.
* Maintain a positive and solution-oriented approach to work, providing open and honest feedback.
* Ensure your own continuous professional development by participating in external networking, conferences, associations, groups, and training to stay current on industry changes and innovations.
* Undertake other duties, training, and/or hours of work as reasonably required, consistent with the general level of responsibility of this role.
About You
Essential
* Confident in communicating, influencing, and building relationships with cross-functional colleagues, suppliers, and business stakeholders.
* Excellent customer service skills.
* Resilient, determined, and able to see tasks through to completion.
* Strong analytical skills: comfortable managing, formatting, analysing, and presenting large volumes of data, primarily using Excel.
* Able to work to strict timescales - monthly reporting is mandatory, and deadlines must be met.
* Commercially astute.
* Proficient in networking and business influence.
* Consistently perform purchasing duties in line with the CIPS Ethical Policy.
* Proven track record with Microsoft suite of products.
* Develop and maintain close working relationships with all key stakeholders.
* Demonstrate and champion the core values and behaviours of MWHT.
Desirable
* Professional qualification to degree level, preferably in Business, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Engineering, Economics, Procurement, or a related field.
* Experience in a procurement role within the construction or utilities sector.
* MCIPS certification or willingness to work towards it.
* Previous experience of ERP systems.
