Maintenance Assistant
£12.50 per hour
Must be able to work every Saturday and Sunday 2pm to 10pm
This role can be full time (37.50 hours) or part time depending on your preference, however if part time the days have to cover Saturday and Sunday.

Are you a dynamic and detail-oriented individual looking to make a difference in an educational setting? My client is seeking a Maintenance Assistant to join their dedicated Estates team. In this role, you will contribute to the efficient management of the school’s facilities, ensuring they are maintained to the highest standards.
Key Responsibilities:
* Conduct routine inspections of the school premises to identify maintenance needs.
* Ensure the school site is safe and secure at all times.
* Respond promptly to maintenance requests and emergencies.
* Facilitate school setups and the general running of the school day.
* Carry out general maintenance, repairs, painting, and decoration across the site.
* Assist with the smooth running of external lettings.
* Support health and safety compliance within the estate, including the swimming pool.
* Provide support with car park management during busy periods.
* Liaise and assist contractors when necessary.
* Help with special school functions such as Open Days and Entrance Exam Days.
* Ensure the school site is safe, especially during adverse weather conditions.
* Take a proactive approach to improving and developing the school estate.
* Contribute to the development and implementation of sustainable practices.
Background & Experience:
* Good knowledge of general maintenance.
* Previous experience in a similar role.
* Understanding of the health and safety implications of the role.
Personal Qualities:
* The ability to speak with people of all levels.
* Strong listening skills and the ability to understand needs and requests.
* Good time management.
* Enthusiastic, with a willingness to contribute ideas.
Skills & Competencies:
* Good physical fitness to carry out the job to our high standards.
* IT literate with the ability to use IT effectively.
* Excellent verbal and written skills.
* Ability to troubleshoot problems, identify appropriate solutions, and take personal responsibility.
* Ability to plan, organise, and prioritise effectively.
* Proven ability to use initiative, be proactive, and work autonomously.
* Ability to follow management instructions.
* A methodical approach to tasks with strong prioritisation skills.
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a willingness to undertake a variety of shared responsibilities.
This is not a term time only position, so you must be able to work throughout the year.
Holidays are 25 days plus bank holidays which would be pro-rated down for a part time appointment.
