Calderdale & Huddersfield NHS Foundation Trust have an exciting opportunity for enthusiastic and motivated individuals to join our friendly children’s team. We are seeking individuals who are passionate about caring for babies, children and young people aged 0-16 years.
Successful candidates will be joining our multi-disciplinary team on the paediatric inpatient wards. The ward consists of 29 inpatient beds (with 3 surge beds) on our ward at Calderdale Royal Hospital, two of which are designated for enhanced care, a busy assessment/observation unit and 8 inpatient beds on our ward in Huddersfield Royal Infirmary which cares for acute surgical and orthopaedic patients.
The ward is also equipped with a new sensory room and young person’s room to enhance our patient’s stay. We also have a Youth Forum and an active social media and fundraising team.
Main duties of the job
* To be responsible for the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of evidence-based individualised plan of care.
* The post holder will also assist in the management and organisation of nursing work in the ward/department.

* To be responsible for providing the appropriate nursing evidence-based care of an allocated group of patients.
* To work as part of a multidisciplinary team using resources efficiently.
* To deliver quality care to patients and to supervise the working of junior staff during the span of duty.
* To be competent in carrying out a variety of clinical procedures.

QUALIFICATIONS / TRAINING
* NMC Registered Nurse in relevant field of practice (or within 6 months of completing a validated BSc or MSc course, resulting in NMC registration)
* Practice Assessor/Practice Supervisor qualification or willingness to complete
* Additional post-registration qualification relevant to field of practice
* Evidence of continuing professional development
* Role Specific Training relevant to specialty of the post
* Teaching Qualification
* Leadership Qualification
KNOWLEDGE, EXPERIENCE & EXPERTISE
* Knowledge and skill to plan, deliver, and evaluate high quality, evidence-based nursing care to a group of patients within the speciality of the post
* Experience of working with patients, and those that matter to them, from a range of diverse cultures and backgrounds
* Experience of working as part of a team, with the ability to prioritise own workload.
* Knowledge and skill in infection prevention and control principles and procedures
* Knowledge and skill in safeguarding principles and procedures
* IT literacy and ability to use NHS systems
* Competence in speciality or role specific extended skills required of the post or willingness to undertake necessary training.
