About the role
As a Payroll Officer, you will play a key role in ensuring smooth and accurate payroll operations. You'll be responsible for a variety of essential tasks including processing pays, back pays, managing Work Cover administration, conducting audits, and maintaining accurate personnel records. Your work will support the wider team and ensure we are meeting compliance standards while optimising payroll processes.
Key Responsibilities
1. Process back pays, including Lump Sum E payments and superannuation.
2. Assist with Work Cover administration, including form preparation, returns, and reconciliation of claims and recoveries.
3. Foster strong working relationships with payroll team members, key stakeholders, and HR.
4. Conduct leave audits for annual, personal, and long-service leave in line with state legislation and applicable awards.
5. Ensure compliance by following appropriate auditing procedures.
6. Maintain up-to-date employee personnel files within the system.
7. Process payments via online banking.
8. Stay informed on industry developments and advise management on improvements to payroll processes.
9. Review fortnightly payroll and direct payments reports to ensure wage accuracy.
10. Respond to payroll queries and provide solutions to improve payroll performance.
Skills and Experience
1. Experience with payroll systems such as PayGlobal and KRONOS (preferred).
2. Previous exposure to high-volume payroll environments is highly desirable.
3. In-depth understanding of payroll legislation, processes, and compliance.
4. Strong ability to interpret relevant legislation and awards.
5. Deadline-driven with the ability to work under pressure.
6. Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word.
7. A proactive approach to continual professional development, both personally and for the team.
8. A solid understanding of employment law, taxation, superannuation, and National Employment Standards.

As we have multiple positions available, we will be holding a group assessment for the Payroll Officer position. The assessment will take place on Tuesday 25th February, and will provide you with the opportunity to demonstrate your skills and expertise in a dynamic, team-based environment.
