The Opportunity
About Digital Legal Delivery:
Our newly launched Digital Legal Delivery (Digital) practice group is HSF's New Law offering and brings together HSF's legacy ALT practice, Legal Operations Advisory and Transformation teams, and the Emerging Technology Group.
The Digital practice group enables HSF to offer our clients an increasingly comprehensive range of digital legal solutions, designed to enhance efficiency, quality, and competitiveness in what we recognise to be increasingly complex and dynamic legal market. This group also leads on implementing the best technology solutions today, while horizon scanning and experimenting with emerging technologies to understand their practical applications, for potential use across HSF.
Key responsibilities:
1. This role presents an opportunity to further develop your business development skillset while working hand-in-hand with lawyers, legal project managers, process design, and technology experts across our Digital group.
2. The role directly supports teams based in London, Belfast, New York, and Johannesburg. It also involves close collaboration with our colleagues across Australia and Asia, ensuring we present a truly global offering to the market.
3. The focus of this role is to work with the Business Development Manager (BDM) and the relevant practice group stakeholders to develop initiatives aligned with our business plan and key client/product/sector objectives. It provides an opportunity to take ownership of the delivery of small to medium-sized projects under the oversight of the BDM. This role will also take the lead in supporting teams within the practice group with their internal and external BD and marketing requirements.
4. Work with key stakeholders across the practice to identify best strategies for engaging with our target clients via meetings, conferences, events, podcasts, webinars etc.
5. Support the Digital BDM, along with the Marketing and Communication teams, in facilitating the delivery of regional Digital BD, communications, and marketing projects and initiatives, while monitoring success and return on investment. This will include supporting the practice in producing and sharing content across internal and external channels such as on the intranet, website and social media.
6. Work with the team to develop new initiatives that align to our business plan.
7. Identify opportunities and assist the BDM and key stakeholders in increasing the internal profile, awareness, and understanding of the Digital group.
8. Take content management responsibility for the Digital BD hub on the intranet and the practice group pages on the website.
9. Assist the Digital BDM, Directors, Head of and Senior Managers in the preparation of BD materials including tenders, pitches and bids.
10. Work with key stakeholders to draft and finalise capability statements that fulfil client requests for information
11. Project manage the Group’s collection and sourcing of credentials and tenders, pitches and bids.
12. Create and maintain top Digital credentials lists. For example, top Digital Legal or Legal Technology matters in Foundation to allow easy access and use by the broader team to support pitch execution.
13. Create and maintain Digital pitching templates and resources on the Digital BD Hub.
14. Take profile management responsibility for Digital credentials in the Foundation database including supporting and monitoring the use of Foundation by lawyers and maintaining the quality of credentials.
15. Take content management responsibility for Digital standard content on the Pitching Centre of Excellence / QorusDocs.
16. Work closely with other BD teams to provide Digital related information, credentials, CVs etc. for panel pitches and significant pitches led by other practice groups.
17. Support the Digital BD team with the Directory and Awards submissions relevant to Digital in a timely manner.
18. Work with the Digital BD and events teams to execute successful client seminars, third party and external events.
19. Support on delivering best practice /business development soft skills training across the practice group.
20. Carry out research tasks.
21. Deal with ad-hoc queries from practice group stakeholders and other BD teams.
22. Give general support, as requested, in relation to BD and marketing activities.
Qualifications, skills and experience
23. Three to four years business development experience in a professional services firm.
24. Degree educated or similar level of work experience.
25. Experience of the New Law legal sector preferrable.
26. A background or experience of working in a partnership.
27. Proficient systems skills (experience in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, InterAction an advantage).
28. Proven ability to think ahead, understand and manage priorities and work under pressure to meet deadlines.
29. Enthusiastic, proactive and strong work ethic with a willingness to accept ownership of and follow up on tasks without prompting.
