We are currently recruiting a full-time position for a Safeguarding Nurse/Professional to join our dynamic team. While the primary location is in Bristol, the Safeguarding team provides advice and support to staff Trust-wide. This may require occasional working from the Weston General Hospital site.
Our Safeguarding Nursing Team, under the guidance of the Interim Deputy Director of Safeguarding, provides evidence-based advice/guidance, safeguarding supervision, and training for staff across all Trust sites within the University Hospitals Bristol and Weston group. The team plays a pivotal role in assisting staff with complex and serious adult and safeguarding cases.
Main duties of the job
Key Responsibilities
Clinical:
* Serve as a role model and offer specialised guidance to healthcare professionals on safeguarding matters.
* Foster a culture of best practices throughout the Trust regarding safeguarding.
* Manage the sharing of confidential and highly sensitive information with external agencies, while also handling complex information within the Safeguarding domain.
* Keep the Operational Nursing Lead for Safeguarding Children and Adults informed of current concerns and trends expressed by Trust staff.
* Maintain accurate and up-to-date records in accordance with professional standards, such as NMC guidance.
* Empower frontline staff to effectively address safeguarding issues in alignment with best practices, policies, and procedures.
* Play a part in establishing and enhancing efficient communication among multiple agencies and disciplines.
Education and Training:
* Contribute to the development and delivery of high-quality, research-based safeguarding training across the Trust, catering to a diverse range of disciplines.
* Participate in the assessment and evaluation of safeguarding training programmes across the Trust.
* Collaborate in monitoring staff safeguarding training compliance using an established database, ensuring adherence to national and local training compliance targets.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
Safeguarding children is multifaceted with challenges that demand specialised knowledge and a diverse skill set. In this role, you will engage in a variety of safeguarding activities. These include offering advice and support to frontline practitioners, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams, and participating in a range of safeguarding meetings, including multiagency strategy discussions. This is a vital role that actively contributes to the development and delivery of safeguarding training programs across the Trust.
You will be supporting the safeguarding assurance process by contributing to internal and external audits and assisting in the dissemination of learning from Rapid reviews and child safeguarding practice reviews (CSPR's).
Person specification
Knowledge and Experience
* Relevant experience of working with safeguarding cases in a variety of settings involving children’s services.
* Experience of supporting and supervising staff in a clinical/safeguarding setting.
* Participation in the development and delivery of quality training programmes.
* Experience of inter-agency partnership working.
* Experience of attending safeguarding strategies/case conferences/participating in protection plans.
* Direct involvement with change management initiatives.
* Experience of undertaking audits.
Skills and abilities
* Knowledge of safeguarding legislation, current issues, and inquiry reports for Children and/or Adults.
* Proven communication and influencing skills.
* Knowledge & ability in using different tools providing staff supervision and support.
Qualifications and Training
* Registered 1st Level Nurse on the NMC register (Adult or Children).
* Evidence of professional/clinical knowledge in safeguarding supplemented by specialist training.
* Evidence of working towards degree level.
* Recognised teaching/training qualification.
* Safeguarding supervision training/experience.
* Willing to travel.
* Commitment to sustain ongoing professional development.
* Personal stress management strategy.
