The Role
Ventia, in collaboration with the Australian Defence Force, is seeking an enthusiastic Chef to champion our Grab & Go Service offering through the Combined Mess at RAAF Edinburgh. We are looking for someone passionate about delivering exceptional food and outstanding customer service. Join our vibrant team and support daily kitchen operations.
This full-time position is based at the RAAF Base Edinburgh, South Australia. The Grab & Go offering operates Monday to Friday from the Combined Mess at RAAF Edinburgh. Successful candidates will be rostered Sunday to Thursday to prepare pre-packaged food and meals. Shift timings can be discussed with the successful candidate.
* Permanent full-time position
* Base rate: $27.44 per hour + Market Rate Allowance $5.77 per worked hour = $33.21 + 11.5% super
* Penalty rates for shifts after 6 pm, weekends, and public holidays
* Additional allowances for laundry, tools, and first aiders (if/when certified)
* Uniform/PPE supplied
Key Responsibilities (including but not limited to):
* Prepare pre-packaged food for the Grab & Go offering, including sandwiches, salad bowls, noodle bowls, full-serve meals, snacks, cakes, and more, in accordance with the Grab & Go brief.
* Support and assist in the implementation and management of Ventia’s Food Safety Program, including packaging and labelling requirements.
* Contribute to kitchen cleaning, sanitising, and help maintain equipment and premises.
* Assist in stock management initiatives, including stock rotation and restocking consumables.
* Collaborate with Front of House Grab & Go Team members to deliver exceptional customer experiences, in line with contract expectations.
* Support the Head Chef and main mess kitchen during peak periods when required.
Skills & Experience
* Australian-recognised Commercial Cookery qualification (Cert III or higher) (Required)
* Current Australian Driver’s Licence (Required)
* Sound knowledge of Food Safety Standards, relevant legislation, and statutory obligations
* Previous experience in a similar commercial hospitality role and/or retail hospitality role (Desirable)
* Ability to develop stakeholder relationships
* Ability to work autonomously as well as in a team
Must be eligible to hold a Defence Security Clearance. As a result of this requirement, the applicant must be an Australian Citizen.
