As a Senior Mechanical Engineer, you will work within a multi-disciplinary project team —collaborating with process, electrical, instrumentation, and architectural specialists to deliver complete production buildings for clients across the UK and Europe. Industry: High-Tech Process Industries (Hydrogen, Carbon Capture, Syngas, Advanced Fuels, Refinery Technology) The Role This role involves a mix of consultancy and design work, focusing on advanced technology, chemical, and industrial sectors. You will be responsible for: Leading the delivery of mechanical engineering designs and specifications. Conducting calculations, equipment selection, and system design for pumps, piping, vessels, columns, and mechanical equipment packages. Providing innovative solutions that enhance efficiency, reduce costs, and meet complex process requirements. Supporting feasibility studies, FEED, detailed design, and commissioning across various project scales—ranging from pilot and demonstration plants to large-scale production facilities. Driving value engineering, modularisation studies, and innovative fabrication/installation strategies. The Person We are looking for a technically focused individual who thrives in a flat-structured environment rather than managing a large team. The ideal candidate will have: Chartered Engineer status with significant experience in mechanical engineering for process industries. A strong understanding of existing and novel concept designs, technology scale-up, and commercialisation. The flexibility to adapt to diverse engineering and business challenges across multiple sectors. Experience in innovative fuel manufacturing processes such as biomass/anaerobic gasification, carbonate fuel cells, syngas/reforming, carbon capture, or advanced refinery processes.
