Job summary An exciting opportunity for an experienced Occupational Therapist to work within a specialist multi-disciplinary service has arisen with the CityCare Community Neurology team. The successful applicant would be responsible for the continuity and delivery of Occupational Therapy interventions for patients who have a diagnosed long term neurological condition, this will include conditions such as Multiple Sclerosis, Motor neurone disease, Huntingtons disease and Parkinsons Disease. An understanding of neurological conditions, the physical, social and psychological impact of this long-term condition on the patient and family is desirable. This is an opportunity to join a supportive and innovative team and to be part of a wider network of Occupational Therapists within Nottingham CityCare Partnership The successful candidate will join the other band 6 OT in the team in providing: Specialist Occupational Therapy Assessment and specialist interventions to support both patient, carers and wider team; promoting engagement with rehabilitation and self management. Working both in patients homes, care home and other community settings. Informal / formal supervision of other members of the service i.e Assistant Practitioners. Teaching and ongoing assessment of OT competencies of support staff and students. Main duties of the job As an occupational Therapist in the community neurology service you will have opportunity to: Provide specialist assessment of patients functional abilities in their own home or other community setting, in order to establish treatment plans and person centred goal orientated plans, alongside an MDT including Physiotherapists, Specialist Nurses and support staff. Deliver specialist treatment plans, including provision of specialist equipment, neuro splinting, fatigue management programmes, ADL related goals, falls management and postural management. Engage in development and training within the team, through supervision with Band 7 OT, in-service training and other CityCare wide training opportunities. To be involved in service development and transformation of services to enhance service delivery for patients and their carers.
