Amethyst Global Freight is part of the Cathay Group, we are looking for a Freight Forwarding Apprentice to join our team in Croydon. We are fully office based, Monday to Friday and offer long term career opportunities and a good working environment. We'll support you through our Apprenticeship Scheme with day release, one day per week, at Croydon College, and a supportive, training environment. You'll receive full training and a level 3 Business Administration qualification with potential for a permanent role at the end of the Apprenticeship. As Freight Forwarding Apprentice, you will support our logistics and supply chain operations while gaining hands-on experience and industry knowledge. This apprenticeship offers a fantastic opportunity to learn from experienced professionals, develop essential skills, and build a solid foundation for a career in freight forwarding. This role will be on a fixed- term 18-24 month apprenticeship contract. It will be full time, Monday- Friday, 37.5 hours per week with day release one day per week to attend college to complete a level 3 Business Administration qualification. Key Responsibilities: Assist with Shipment Coordination: Help coordinate and monitor the movement of goods, ensuring timely and efficient delivery. Documentation Management: Prepare and process necessary shipping documents, including bills of lading, invoices, and customs documentation. Customer Service Support: Provide excellent customer service by responding to inquiries, updating clients on shipment status, and resolving issues. Data Entry and Management: Accurately input and maintain shipment data in our systems, ensuring all records are up to date and accurate. Liaise with Carriers and Agents: Communicate with carriers, agents, and other stakeholders to arrange transportation and resolve any logistical issues. Cost Analysis: Assist in analysing shipping costs and identifying opportunities for cost savings and efficiency improvements. Compliance: Ensure all shipments comply with relevant regulations, including customs and import/export laws. Warehouse Support: Occasionally assist with warehouse activities, including inventory management and order picking. Learning and Development: Participate in training programs and educational opportunities to gain a comprehensive understanding of freight forwarding and logistics operations. Administrative Support: Provide general administrative support to the logistics team as needed. You will need to meet the minimum qualification threshold for an apprentice in Maths and English, but no other prior qualifications are required.
