SENIOR CONTRACTS ADVISOR
Our Client, a Major Oil and Gas Operator, is seeking an experienced Contracts Advisor. This is a 12 Month maternity cover role and is based in Aberdeen.
Purpose of Role:
Oversees the execution of the complete Category Management and Contracting Process (CMCP) including contract strategy, tactics, and contract management activities.
Areas of Accountability, Responsibility and Competence:
1. Operates effectively across multiple and complex internal business/functional interfaces, often at a senior level, and is recognised by internal customers, peers, and suppliers as 'a seasoned professional'. Deals confidently with suppliers up to and at senior levels as required.
2. Builds strong and effective relationships with internal customers and is seen as an integral part of their 'business team'. Takes time to understand their operation and their real business needs.
3. Operates with considerable autonomy within the organisation's Supply Chain Policy and framework.
4. Is conversant with both the theory and application of the full range of modern procurement tools and techniques, developing an in-depth understanding of the nature and dynamics of the supply markets.
5. Develops and implements commercial solutions that are driven by and respond to business needs, often innovative and 'do things differently'.
6. Collaborates with internal stakeholders to develop overall demand forecasts for input into the Category Plan on a rolling three-year basis.
7. Develops and implements high-quality documentation for bidding, evaluation, negotiation, award, and post-award management for all contracts in the portfolio in accordance with company policies and procedures.
8. Drafts and develops Contracts and Contract Amendments including robust Contract Management Plans including Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) as required.
9. Ensures delivery and manages a portfolio of delegated contracts.
10. Ensures implementation of contractor HSES practices in close liaison with technical owners.
11. Acts as the primary liaison between C&P, Legal, Insurance, and other risk structure functions, filtering and dealing with most day-to-day matters.
12. Identifies and understands commercial needs from internal stakeholders and collaboratively proposes solutions that take account of market conditions, risks, and business drivers.
13. Leads supplier relationships effectively and collaboratively drives continuous performance improvement.
14. Builds and maintains a strong network in the market, being fully aware of forthcoming opportunities and supplier developments.
Critical Skills, Qualifications, Experience, etc.:
1. Degree level (Business Management, Quantity Surveying, or Law) and/or proven long-term comprehensive experience within CP.
2. MCIPS (Chartered Institute of Procurement & Supply) Qualification preferred but not mandatory.
3. Track record of effective leadership and people management.
4. Experience in preparing Category Plans, ITTs, and drafting contract documents and award recommendations within the Contracts and Procurement function, preferably within the energy industry.
5. Appreciation of the technical aspects of offshore operations.
6. Proven experience in contract negotiations and complex tender evaluation.
7. Experience in contract management and developing supplier relationships, delivering benefits through collaborative working.
8. Appreciation of the need to build stakeholder relationships and application of business needs.
