Job Overview
An opportunity has arisen for a full-time Locum Consultant ENT Surgeon to join a very enthusiastic ENT team at the Wirral University Teaching Hospital, Merseyside for a six-month fixed-term period. The department is optimistic that future exciting opportunities will be available in the longer term.
The successful candidate would be expected to work closely with our Audiology colleagues to provide a fully comprehensive ENT service to the patients of the Wirral.
Main Duties of the Job
The duties are those of a full-time consultant with a job plan as detailed in the Recruitment Briefing. On-call commitment is 1:4 during weekdays covering only Arrowe Park Hospital. Weekend on-call is currently 1:10, provided in clinical collaboration covering three hospitals - Arrowe Park Hospital, Countess of Chester Hospital, and Warrington Hospital. All three hospitals have middle-grade ENT cover provided by Registrars or SAS Doctors. All the consultants across the three hospitals meet regularly to discuss Clinical Governance issues.
The locum consultant would be expected to undertake the duties of a General ENT surgeon, who can operate autonomously (both adult and paediatric) across both Arrowe Park and Clatterbridge sites.
Person Specification
Qualifications
* FRCS or Equivalent qualification in Otolaryngology
* Entry on the GMC Specialist Register via a recognised route
* Currently on GMC Specialist Register or within 6 months of obtaining
* Completion of an accredited higher surgical training programme
Knowledge
* Good communication skills with patients, relatives, colleagues, and staff
* Experience in teaching and training

* Flexible and accommodating
* Able to work in a team with Consultant colleagues and juniors
