Line Manager: Operations Director
Role Overview: Develop and manage The Development Manager’s (TDM) curriculum using extensive knowledge and the TDM educational model. Manage the Delivery and Learning Technologist teams to create impactful learning experiences for learners and employers.
As part of the leadership team, align with TDM values, supporting the overall business aims and objectives, aligning with the Directors and Governors and working with other managers to achieve results.

Core Responsibilities (Right Seat):
* Align with TDM’s mission, vision, curriculum intent, educational approach, methodologies, and terminologies.
* Performance manage the Delivery team and Learning Technologist team using the manager TDM “CCAIR” values.
* Inspire and support the team of coaches to enhance their subject areas and improve the curriculum in line with TDM’s educational approach.
* Ensure continuous improvement of the curriculum, managing the Academic Delivery team and Content/Learning Technologist team development of the curriculum, following regular observation reviews, analysis of stakeholder requirements and customer feedback.
* Develop new programmes that respond to employers’ tech/digital and workplace skills needs, aligning with TDM’s expertise and value proposition.
* Collaborate with external and internal subject matter experts to design, develop, launch and maintain TDM programmes on TDM’s VLEs, including but not limited to:
o Degree Apprenticeships
o L3 and L4 Apprenticeships
o Skills Bootcamps
o Other TDM programmes
* Support employer organisations looking for comprehensive talent solutions to access government funding for training solutions (Apprenticeships and Skills Bootcamps).
* Assist organisations seeking commercial solutions for corporate knowledge capture, performance management, workforce engagement, and formal learning development via a bespoke-branded Virtual Learning Environment platform with customised content. This includes working with the TDM team for:
o System configuration and management
o Training and consultancy
o E-learning content design and development
* Drive curriculum quality improvement across all programmes to achieve gold standard by evaluating and continuously improving the quality of TDM’s schemes of work on the Totara Learning Management System.
* Collaborate with the Quality and Operations teams to enhance the quality of TDM’s Totara and Mahara Learning Management Systems concerning:
o System configuration and reporting
o Content development
o Communities of interest in Mahara
o TDM team adoption and utilisation
o Learner and employer mentor adoption and utilisation
* Lead Monday training and standardisation meetings for the Academic Delivery team as required.
* Lead meetings with external and internal stakeholders regarding curriculum development matters and present key areas back to the TDM team. These stakeholders include:
o Employers
o Learners
o Validating University partners
o End point assessment organisations
o Local, regional and national authorities
o TDM specific teams, for example: Engagement team, specific school subject matter experts, governors, etc.
* Maintain effective communication across all business areas.
* Actively contribute to the quality improvement plan and self-assessment report.
* Participate in monitoring visits, audits, and Ofsted inspections as needed.
* Produce relevant reports as required by management and use data to manage and improve the team’s performance.
* Represent TDM at events as needed.
* Perform any other duties as directed by a Director.
* Comply with all TDM policies, procedures, and legal responsibilities, including ISO9001 and Cyber Essentials.
Ideal Candidate:
Required:
* Must align with TDM curriculum intent and strategy: Genuinely work-based learning, underpinned by reflective performance improvement. Understanding of employer needs and passion for developing local and regional skills.
* Experience in successfully managing a team.
* This role will require the successful candidate to collaborate in the process of content development (curating rather than creating) and therefore confidence to collaborate and manage subject matter experts in the tech and digital sector is a must.
* Excellent English (speaking, listening, reading and writing), attention to detail, project management, and organisational skills.
* Educated to degree level or equivalent.
* Background in the apprenticeship or further education sector.
* Excellent communication skills and ability to provide support.
* Full, clean driving license.
Preferred:
* Experience within the tech/digital sector.
* Familiarity with using Totara as a VLE and the Mahara platform.
