Great opportunity to work as a Mechanical Project Engineer for a Renewable Energy Company who are building a new Energy Storage Facility in the Manchester area. Working as a Mechanical Project Engineer, you will support the delivery of several key packages of a 50MW/300MWh Power Station, from the detailed engineering phase through to commissioning and hand over to operations. The ideal candidate will have strong technical grounding in mechanical engineering, with experience of detailed design, construction, commissioning and operation phases of projects. The candidate will be a logical thinker with the capability to quickly analyse a problem and deliver a practical solution. The candidate will have the ability to pick up new concepts rapidly and work both independently and collaboratively. Responsibilities: Development of Project engineering deliverables such as Scope of Work, Drawings, Datasheets, Calculations and Schedules, in according with the engineering codes and standards. Technical review of mechanical engineering deliverables prepared by Vendors and Contractors, including drawings, calculations, datasheets, P&IDs. Participation in design reviews and studies, such as 3D model reviews. Coordination with Vendors, Contractors, Consultants and internal / external stakeholders. Site based activities including site inspections, commissioning and performance testing activities at Vendor works and/or project site. Coordinate and deliver technically complex project packages and studies. Contract management responsibilities including contract administration and management of engineering contracts and teams. Planning and progress monitoring activities, including the preparation of progress reports, dashboards, minutes of meeting and action lists. Processing of changes according to the change management procedure. Risk assessment and mitigation activities. Support to procurement activities such as issuance of Material Requisitions, Request for Quotations, Technical Bid Evaluation, Issuance of Purchase Orders, completion of Material and Service Receipts. Compliance with health and safety regulations, including Pressure Equipment Supply Regulations, Pressure Systems Safety Regulations and COMAH Regulations. Compliance with Quality Management activities such as design verification plans and inspection and test plans.Key skills and experience: Essential: MEng Degree or equivalent qualification in Mechanical Engineering. 5-10 years work experience in mechanical engineering in power, industrial gases, oil & gas or similar industry. An understanding of Health, Safety and Environmental legislation and standards. Have a strong safety awareness and the ability to drive the correct safety culture in others. Confidence to challenge established practices, suggesting imaginative solutions to problems. Excellent interpersonal skills to enable effective working relationships with the ability to effectively communicate with all stakeholders. Ability to deliver the role whilst demonstrating flexibility, initiative and high levels of self-motivation and enthusiasm. Ability to build rapport quickly and establish relationships with internal and external stakeholders. Able to identify and analyse situations by isolating key issues, evaluating relevant data and drawing appropriate conclusions. Be able to understand the importance of delivering against customer expectations. A willingness to engage across all functions of a growing company that aims to help make Net Zero Possible. A willingness to travel to project sites, other offices and vendor worksDesirable: IMechE Chartered Member Qualifications or training in relevant subject matter, e.g. pressure equipment, welding, materials, CDM Regulations. Safety training / qualification, e.g. NEBOSH/IOSH. Site experience in a project delivery, commissioning or operational setting. An understanding of health, safety and environmental legislation and standards. Experience of high temperature plant and equipment. Experience with major rotating and static equipment, such as Pressure Vessels, S&T Heat Exchangers, Compressors, Pumps. Process safety experience including participation in and/or facilitation of safety studies such as HAZID, HAZOP and LOPA.
