Job Summary:
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Practice Nurse to join our healthcare team. As a Practice Nurse, you will play a crucial role in providing high-quality patient care and assisting in various medical procedures. Your expertise and knowledge of anatomy will be essential in ensuring the well-being of our patients.
The following are the core responsibilities of the Practice Nurse:
1. Assist in and perform routine tasks related to patient care as directed by the Lead Practice Nurse, Practice Manager, GPs, and other Clinicians.
2. Ensure adequate provision of a treatment room service including wound care, ulcer care, manual dopplers, and immunisation programmes.
3. Provide a holistic approach to wound management and implement wound care in line with current evidence-based guidelines.
4. Provide a new patient/heart screening programme by offering a holistic assessment and lifestyle advice on diet, smoking, alcohol intake, and exercise.
5. Initially assess and manage minor trauma and liaise with the Doctor as appropriate.
6. Assist with minor surgical procedures.
7. Collection, storage, and despatch of pathological specimens including intravenous blood samples, swabs, and smears.
8. Suture removal.
9. Performance of ECGs.
10. Recognize and manage anaphylaxis according to current UK guidelines.
11. Ability to perform Cardio-pulmonary resuscitation according to current UK guidelines.
12. Chaperoning and assisting patients where appropriate who are being examined by another clinician.
13. Offer childhood vaccinations and help achieve targets.
14. Provide a travel health service which includes appropriate advice and vaccinations for adult and child patients.
15. Assist in maintenance of cervical cytology screening programme.
16. Provide ear syringing.
17. Offer contraception checks.
18. Order vaccinations to maintain stock levels.
Responsibilities:
Conduct patient assessments and triage to determine appropriate care.
Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by physicians.
Perform routine procedures such as wound care, vaccinations, and blood draws.
Monitor patient vital signs and document medical history.
Collaborate with healthcare professionals to develop and implement patient care plans.
Educate patients on health maintenance and disease prevention.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date medical records.
Adhere to infection control protocols and maintain a clean and safe environment.
Experience:
Previous experience as a Practice Nurse or similar role preferred.
Strong knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology.
Proficient in administering medications and performing medical procedures.
Excellent communication skills with the ability to empathize with patients.
Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
