Co-opted Fundraising and Communications Committee Member Ovarian Cancer Action
Be a catalyst for progress in ovarian cancer research and join our Fundraising and Communications Committee.
* Location: London
Ovarian cancer survival rates remain devastatingly low. In the UK, only one in three women diagnosed with ovarian cancer will live beyond ten years. Every two hours, another woman’s life is lost. It’s a stark reality and one that has gone underfunded and overlooked for far too long. But we refuse to accept this as the status quo.
Who we are
At Ovarian Cancer Action, we are relentless in our mission to change the future for women diagnosed with this disease. As the UK’s leading ovarian cancer research charity, we are funding breakthroughs that will transform survival rates.
We invest in cutting-edge scientific research to improve early detection, develop better treatments, and ultimately save lives. We fund world-class scientists working on game-changing discoveries and ensure that ovarian cancer remains a priority in medical research. Our work also extends to raising awareness of symptoms, advocating for policy change, and ensuring that every woman, regardless of her background, has access to the best possible care. Through collaboration, innovation, and determination, we are driving the progress needed to make ovarian cancer a survivable disease.
Our goal is clear: by 2032, at least half of women diagnosed with ovarian cancer will live beyond ten years. But to achieve this, we need to drive greater investment in research and expand awareness, and that’s where the Fundraising and Communications Committee plays a vital role.
As a co-opted committee member, you will use your expertise in Trusts, Grants, Foundations, and high-value fundraising to support our mission. This role is about applying your knowledge to help shape our fundraising and communications strategy, ensuring that we make the greatest possible impact. You will help provide support, challenge, and strategic guidance while sharing insight into how we can improve donor engagement and income diversification. Your ability to analyse opportunities, solve problems, and advise on best practices in the sector will be key to our success.
Working alongside a passionate and ambitious team, we will together drive investment into life-saving research and innovation in early detection and treatment. Your experience in income generation within the charity sector and developing compelling fundraising strategies will make a tangible difference to the future of ovarian cancer research.
Your ability to offer constructive challenge and contribute to decision-making will be invaluable in ensuring Ovarian Cancer Action’s continued growth and effectiveness.
This is an exciting and rewarding opportunity for experienced professionals with a background in fundraising. If you have a proven track record in Trusts, Grants, Foundations, major donor fundraising, and corporate partnerships, your skills will help drive our progress.
Time Commitment
The Fundraising and Communications Committee meets four times a year (remote with occasional in-person meetings in London), along with additional engagement with the executive team to provide advice and oversight.
At Ovarian Cancer Action, we believe in the power of diversity, inclusivity, and lived experience. Together, we can transform survival rates. Join us.
