Birmingham City Football Club is seeking a dynamic and experienced Project Manager to lead and oversee the planning, execution, and completion of key projects across the club’s operations.
You will provide strategic leadership in project management, ensuring that all initiatives align with the club’s objectives and long-term vision. You will be responsible for managing cross-functional projects, coordinating with stakeholders, and delivering projects on time and within budget.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Project Management
* Develop and implement project plans to support the club’s strategic goals.
* Ensure buy-in from the leadership team and key stakeholders, ensuring their needs are reflected in the project scope.
* Translate high-level objectives into actionable project roadmaps and deliverables.
* Oversee all interdependencies across the transformation programme and manage prioritisation and sequencing of projects.
Project Execution & Oversight
* Manage the club’s project management technology and implementation of transformation tracking processes.
* Oversee the planning, scheduling, and execution of multiple projects across football and business operations.
* Monitor project progress, track key milestones, and resolve any issues to ensure successful project delivery.
* Ensure projects are delivered on time, within scope, and on budget while maintaining high standards.
* Manage and mitigate risks, identifying potential roadblocks and implementing solutions proactively.
Stakeholder Engagement & Communication
* Collaborate with project owners from across the commercial, operations, internal, and football areas of the business.
* Work closely with club leadership, department heads, and external partners to ensure project objectives align with overall business needs.
* Maintain clear communication with stakeholders, providing regular updates on project progress, risks, and next steps.
* Foster collaboration between internal teams, ensuring alignment on project priorities and objectives.
Process Improvement & Best Practices
* Design improved project management ways of working within the club including introducing better cadence, technology, and behaviours.
* Implement project management best practices and frameworks to enhance operational efficiency.
* Continuously review and refine project management methodologies to drive innovation and performance.
* Identify opportunities for automation and improved efficiency in project execution.
Budget & Resource Management
* Manage project budgets effectively, ensuring efficient allocation of resources.
* Identify cost-saving opportunities while maintaining project quality and delivery standards.
* Ensure financial accountability and accurate reporting for all project expenditures.
Compliance & Governance
* Ensure all projects comply with relevant regulations, policies, and industry best practices.
* Work closely with legal and governance teams to manage risk and contractual obligations.
* Maintain clear documentation of project plans, decisions, and post-project evaluations.
What we’re looking for in you
* Proven experience in project management, preferably in a sports environment.
* Experience with project management platforms (e.g. Monday.com).
* Strong understanding of project management methodologies (e.g. Waterfall, PRINCE2, or PMP).
* Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining attention to detail.
* Excellent problem-solving skills, with the ability to think strategically and adapt to challenges.
* Strong leadership and team coordination skills, with experience in managing cross-functional teams.
* Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, both internally and externally.
* Experience with budgeting, financial oversight, and cost control.
Desirable Qualifications
* Familiarity with AGILE and similar methodologies.
* Project Management Professional (PMP), PRINCE2, or similar certification.
* Experience in the sports or entertainment industry.
* Understanding of stadium operations, fan engagement, or infrastructure projects.
