The Post The Prevent Education Officer will support schools and educational institutions in implementing the Prevent strategy, ensuring that young people are safeguarded from radicalisation and extremism. Working closely with school staff, governors, and safeguarding leads the officer will develop risk assessments, deliver training, and provide resources that help embed British values and active citizenship within the curriculum. Additionally, the officer will engage with supplementary schools and community groups to raise awareness and challenge extremist rhetoric. The officer will develop and deliver Prevent training, supporting schools in risk assessment and action planning, and providing specialist teaching resources to address issues such as online radicalisation, propaganda, and grooming. The officer will also work collaboratively with local and national partners, including the Home Office and the Department for Education, ensuring that Prevent objectives are met and best practices are shared across educational settings. It provides a dynamic working environment, bridging education, community engagement, and security, with opportunities for professional development and involvement in national Prevent initiatives The Person The ideal Prevent Education Officer will be a proactive and adaptable individual with strong communication and relationship-building skills. They should be able to engage effectively with schools, communities, and stakeholders while promoting inclusion, resilience, and critical thinking among young people. A collaborative mindset and the ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities are essential. Candidates should have experience in education, safeguarding, or community engagement, particularly within schools or youth settings. They should be confident in delivering training, developing educational resources, and working with multi-agency partnerships. Experience in risk assessment, action planning, and counter-extremism would be advantageous. A teaching qualification (QTS) or equivalent experience is required. A project management qualification or experience in project support would be beneficial. Strong IT, organisational, and report-writing skills are also essential for developing training materials and evaluating Prevent initiatives. The post holder must also have enhanced DBS or SC clearance with CTC for working with young people and to have access to sensitive counter terrorism risk information.
