An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Surgical Care Practitioner to join the Cardiac Surgical team at St Thomas' Hospital, AFC band 7/8a depending on experience.
As a member of the Cardiac Surgical multidisciplinary team, the successful candidate will work closely, under the guidance of the Cardiac Surgeons, to provide support in the pre-, peri and post-operative care of the patients.
We are currently looking for an experienced, energetic and self-motivated individual to join our existing team of cardiac surgical care practitioners who are passionate about theatre nursing and their role. The successful applicants will also have the ability to work effectively and flexibly within the busy cardiac department here at St Thomas'.

Main duties of the job
Working under the direction and supervision of the Cardiac Surgeons, the successful applicants will assist senior and junior clinicians during cardiac surgery.
You will be able to work autonomously in harvesting conduit for coronary artery bypass surgery, assist in all surgical procedures and contribute to the pre-, peri and post-operative care of the patients.
The successful candidate should have experience of harvesting conduit by conventional (open) and endoscopic vessel techniques, although support and training can be given where required.

* Assist in all aspects of cardiovascular surgery including harvesting of vein and radial conduit, utilising conventional and endoscopic techniques and assisting in the surgical opening and closure of patients.
