Description ABOUT YOU As the Materials Technologist, you will be based on our client’s site. The role includes but is not limited to; s upport of coating and machining processes, support quality issue investigations & review and assess submitted data against the specification documents. Required skills and experience: Degree in Material Science or related subject Experience working in a laboratory environment. Experience of quality management systems. Excellent verbal and written communication skills Proficient in use of Microsoft office, Word, Excel, PowerPoint ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY An opportunity has arisen for a technologist to join our client’s laboratory team responsible for manufacturing processes used in the production of gas turbine engine components. The role will be technical in nature working with suppliers, manufacturing and the quality function to progress projects, review reports against specifications and approve documentation. Key activities: Support of coating and machining processes; Thermal Barrier Coatings, Laser Machining, EDM Machining, Brazing, Welding, Heat Treatment. Attend project and technical meetings. Take actions and work with the wider client and supplier team to progress these to a close. Provide technical advice to the client and supplier manufacturing engineering teams. Support quality issue investigations and process improvements within client and external supply chain. Support client internal specification update by liaising with internal teams and external suppliers. Support NADCAP / Internal Audits and NCR close completion. Review and assess submitted data cards for acceptability against the specification requirements. Review method change request documentation. Review and assess submitted data against the specification documents. Summarise this in technical report format to present conclusions and recommendations back to the submitter.
