Head of Engineering role
Salary up to £50,000
Based in Lytham - 100% onsite position
40 hours per week 8am - 4.30pm

The Head of Engineering is responsible for maximising performance through enhancing engineering capabilities, processes, and people. The Head of Engineering will act as an interface between Sales, Quality, Purchasing and Operations to ensure product designs and engineering intent are acceptable for production and the end user.
The Head of Engineering has overall responsibility for the management of all facility and equipment issues on site.
* Maximising Equipment Performance:
o Ensure timely repairs and maintain appropriate spare part levels.
o Equip engineering staff with the necessary skills to maintain equipment.
o Keep accurate records of all engineering issues and activities.
o Establish service programs for equipment, maximizing availability.
o Monitor equipment performance for key assets.
o Develop and operate an effective Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) program.
o Complete projects to install and modify equipment to meet business demands.
* Quality and Safety:
o Ensure safe manufacturing processes and methods.
o Conduct risk and COSHH assessments for equipment.
o Supervise contractors and ensure compliance with company policies and standards.
* Repairs and Maintenance:
o Enable effective fault-finding on manufacturing equipment.
o Coordinate with suppliers for spare parts and service schedules.
o Plan training for the engineering team.
o Schedule PPM activities to minimize downtime.
o Maintain records of service and repair activities.
o Develop a Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) program for Production staff.
* Plant Equipment and Services:
o Maintain plant and services to high standards.
o Review external servicing providers’ competence.
o Keep records of service and repair activities.
* Projects and Continuous Improvement:
o Drive technology projects in collaboration with external partners.
o Meet business needs through innovative solutions.
Personal Attributes:
* Minimum of 5 years experience in a similar role
* Analytical and problem-solving skills.
* Decision-making ability.
* Leadership and project management skills.
* Understanding of service contracts and cost analysis.
* Attention to detail.
* Knowledge of PPM and TPM processes.
