We currently have an opportunity for a Crematorium Assistant to join our team at Hawkinge Crematorium. As a General Assistant, you will play a crucial role in supporting the day-to-day operations within the crematorium. This position offers an opportunity to contribute to a respectful and dignified environment while providing essential assistance to our staff and families.

Responsibilities
As a Crematorium Assistant, you will provide essential support and assistance in various aspects of crematorium operations, including:
* To undertake the full range of gardening, cemetery, and horticultural tasks.
* Responsible for opening and closing the site gates and book of remembrance room.
* Maintain the grounds to the highest standard in accordance with recognised horticultural and grounds maintenance practices.
* Construct, place, fix memorials and subsequently maintain to the highest standard.
* To operate the cremators and ancillary equipment in accordance with manufacturers' guidelines.
* Ensure the safe custody of cremated remains left in the care of the crematorium.
* Ensure the highest standards of housekeeping both in and outside the Chapel and ancillary rooms.
* Prepare chapels for each service considering client needs including varying religious requirements.
* Conduct witness interments and scattering of the cremated remains.
* Ensure the consistent delivery of the highest levels of client service.
Minimum Requirements
This role will suit someone who:
* Holds 2+ years of experience in a customer service environment.
* Has high attention to detail.
* Has a proactive approach and willingness to communicate effectively with a range of people, both in-person, over the phone, and via email.
* Can successfully multitask and meet multiple deadlines.
* Is computer literate, with experience using Microsoft packages (Outlook, Word, and Excel).
* Is presentable at all times, acting with professional conduct and showing empathy.
